City Party Secretary: The site of the Vinh urban development project must be handed over in the next 10 days

(Baonghean.vn) - That is the direction of comrade Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee at the meeting of the Steering Committee for compensation, support and site clearance of Vinh City held on the afternoon of December 19, 2016.

The Vinh urban development sub-project has a total investment of nearly 153 million USD funded by the World Bank. Up to now, there are 4 construction packages that are behind schedule due to problems with site clearance, which are: Vinh - Hung Tay road construction project; road connecting National Highway 46 to Lam River road; reservoir construction project; Vinh ancient citadel moat upgrade and renovation project.

Projects in Vinh City need the drastic participation of local authorities and people in site clearance work.

In recent times, the Steering Committee for compensation, support and site clearance has focused on promoting support and compensation for site clearance such as: Assigning specific responsibilities to members to stay close to the base, stay close to the area, propagate, mobilize and support the people. Organizing regular meetings once a week to grasp the situation, take timely measures to remove difficulties and obstacles, and establish inspection teams to supervise site clearance work.

Up to now, most households have received compensation, demolished their houses and handed over their land to the construction units. However, there are still some households that have not agreed to the compensation price and have not agreed to receive resettlement land, causing difficulties and affecting the overall progress of the project.

At the meeting, after listening to the opinions of the Steering Committee members, the City Party Secretary requested that units and localities be more determined in site clearance work. There should be a policy to support people to quickly relocate their assets, arrange temporary accommodation and take decisive measures against households that do not comply.

Within the next 10 days, the entire site must be cleared to hand over to project contractors.
