The suspect arrested on November 23 is the fourth suspect to be charged in the past 10 days in Belgium since the Paris attacks. The other three are Mohammed Amn and Hamza Attou, who helped Salah Abdeslam leave Paris on November 14, and a third suspect who was arrested on November 20. According to Belgian media, the third suspect sheltered Salah Abdeslam after Mohammed Amn and Hamza Attou handed him over to him in Laeken, a building in Brussels.

On November 24, the Belgian government continued to maintain the highest level of alert in the capital Brussels, level 4. Schools, subways, and shops were ordered to close until “further notice” while security forces continued to be deployed everywhere due to fears of an attack similar to the one in Paris on November 13. According to media agencies, this is an unprecedented decision in the history of Brussels.

In the Grand Place, a defense tank was deployed in front of the city hall. Soldiers with automatic weapons were also deployed on the streets. However, some businesses and cafes decided to stay open in the center of Brussels.
