Nghe An Border Guard accompanies border residents
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, the Border Guard of Nghe An province has actively coordinated with localities and forces to help people in the stationed areas develop economic models, stabilize their lives, build new rural areas, and strengthen the solidarity relationship between the army and the people.
More than 2 years ago, Ms. Vi Thi Nhung's family in Pieng Mun village, Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, received support from Nhon Mai Border Guard Station with 12 pairs of breeding goats to implement a combined military-civilian model, creating initial capital to help the family develop the economy.
With the care of the family and technical support and guidance from the Border Guard, up to now, the goat herd has developed well, giving birth to dozens of baby goats, creating a new direction for the family to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

Another family that has found a new way to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty is Mr. Lo Van Toan's family in Nhon Mai village, Nhon Mai commune. From the combined military-civilian livelihood model of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, with initial financial support from the station, his family boldly invested in a cage fish farming model on the Nam Non River.
Sharing about the support from Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, Mr. Toan said: In previous years, I worked as a freelance fisherman, with unstable income. In 2022, Nhon Mai Border Guard Station supported me with 2 fish cages, along with fish fry and technical support for my family. My family only needs to take care of the fish, after harvesting, the profit will be divided by 50% (the family gets half; the station continues to support other households to develop the economy). After the implementation period, the model has initially brought in an income of about 60 million VND/crop.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thanh Hong - Head of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station said: In the past, the unit has coordinated with local authorities to select families and make agreements with the families receiving assistance. Accordingly, the Border Guard will invest in plants, seeds and initial techniques to implement economic development models. The success of the models not only helps households receive support to develop their economies, but also serves as a place for other families to learn, follow, and contribute to economic development.
Similar to Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, in 2022, the Party Committee of Tam Hop Border Guard Station (Tuong Duong) also assigned Captain Nguyen Kim Trong - Head of the station's Mass Mobilization Team to support Mr. Xong Nhia Ly's family, a poor household in Pha Lom village, Tam Hop commune, to develop the economy.

With the knowledge he had acquired while still at home and through short-term training courses on livestock development in mountainous areas, Captain Nguyen Kim Trong guided Mr. Xong Nhia Ly's family in developing livestock, breeding cows and goats... From the initial 2 pairs of breeding goats, after a period of proper care, Mr. Xong Nhia Ly's family had a herd of 16 goats and 10 cows that were growing well. "The army supported the capital to buy breeding animals, and guided the care of goats and cows to develop well and grow quickly," said Mr. Xong Nhia Ly.
Captain Nguyen Kim Trong - Head of the Mass Mobilization Team of Tam Hop Border Guard Station shared: "I saw that Mr. Xong Nhia Ly's family had many children and was facing difficulties, so I was wondering how to help the family develop the economy quickly and sustainably. After studying the area and economic models suitable for the locality, I encouraged his family to choose goats and cows to develop livestock farming to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty... Up to now, the model has initially been effective."

Information from the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province: In addition to the military-civilian combination model, currently, in the border area, Nghe An Border Guard units are maintaining and implementing well 57 "Smart Civil Affairs" models to help people in border areas develop the economy, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and implement effectively, such as: "Border Guards join hands to build new countryside", "Accompanying women in border areas", "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of Border Guard stations"...
Colonel Tran Dang Khoa - Deputy Political Commissar of Nghe An Border Guard said: From the success of the models in the border area, in the coming time, Nghe An Border Guard will continue to propagate and replicate economic development models, hunger eradication and poverty reduction in the area, mobilize good production households, guide poor households in production experience, capital, seeds, and techniques, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, maintaining security and order in the area./.
