Maintain sovereignty, border security and maritime zones

In 2019, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee led and directed the implementation of the work of grasping, analyzing, forecasting the situation, advising the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to propose policies and measures to flexibly and correctly handle issues related to territorial sovereignty, border security, and sea areas in Nghe An province.

The Provincial Border Guard Party Committee has also led the strengthening of border and sea management and protection, strictly controlled border gates, trails, and openings, advised and coordinated to promptly and effectively handle situations occurring on the border and sea in accordance with policies and measures; implemented the Protocol on Vietnam-Laos border lines and border markers; and the Agreement on border and border gate management regulations;...

The border guards have also effectively carried out flood and storm prevention, search and rescue work; helped people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, rescued 94 people, 10 vehicles and repaired 64 houses damaged by tornadoes; and saved 2 hectares of pine and casuarina forests.

Coordinate forces to improve the effectiveness of the fight against and prevention of all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, thereby arresting 366 cases/561 subjects/184 vehicles; seized evidence of over 38 heroin cakes, 187,544 synthetic drug pills, 1.9 kg of opium poppy, 73,557 kg of synthetic drugs in the form of rocks, 5,963 kg of Ketamine, 46.4 kg of explosives, 16 guns of various types, 478 bullets and many other related evidence.

Border defense diplomacy and people's diplomacy have been well maintained by the Border Guard; at the same time, it has actively participated in consolidating the political system, developing the socio-economy, and building new rural areas.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the results that the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee has achieved in the past year in all aspects of work. The results achieved by the Border Guard force have contributed to maintaining the sovereignty, border security and sea of ​​the province.

Regarding the direction and tasks for 2020, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee to do a good job of grasping and forecasting the situation, not being passive or surprised in any situation; strengthening coordination and information exchange with functional forces, Party committees and local authorities at all levels to ensure security in border areas.
