Ministry of Finance handles surplus public vehicles

The Ministry of Finance has just sent a document to ministries, branches and localities guiding the handling plan for surplus public vehicles after rearrangement and reorganization.
Accordingly, for vehicles eligible for liquidation, the Ministry of Finance will conduct public auctions, not applying the designated sale method.
For vehicles that are converted from general service vehicles to specialized vehicles, it is necessary to comply with regulations on standards and norms issued by competent authorities according to regulations.
The Ministry of Finance also stated that in case ministries, branches and localities need to transfer public cars from places with surplus to places with shortage, careful calculations must be made based on allocated standards and norms to ensure effective use of state assets according to regulations.

In 2018, only Ministers and above are allowed to buy official cars.
In the context of a difficult budget, in 2018, only official cars will be purchased for Ministers and equivalent levels or higher.

More than 1,160 new public vehicles were purchased in one year.
The state budget spent nearly 1,223 billion VND to purchase cars for official duties, general work and specialized vehicles in 2016.
