Minister To Lam works with Nghe An Provincial Police

On the afternoon of March 15, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security led a working delegation of the Ministry to work with Nghe An Provincial Police. Also attending the working session was comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Party Central Committee member, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary.

Reporting to the working delegation, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department said that in recent times, although Nghe An has focused on suppressing drug crimes, because Nghe An is a transit area for drugs from Laos to be transported to other provinces for consumption, this type of crime is still complicated.

In 2017 alone, Nghe An Police arrested 1,054 cases, with 1,304 subjects, seized 215 kg of various drugs, eliminated 45 drug rings, arrested 92 subjects illegally buying, selling, and transporting large quantities of drugs; organized attacks and expelled 18 drug trafficking organizations in the border area.

In the first quarter of 2018, Nghe An police arrested 284 cases with 355 subjects, confiscating nearly 35kg of crystal meth. Currently, the whole province has 376/480 communes, wards and towns with drug addicts with 6,901 drug addicts with controlled records.

According to Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau, in recent times, Nghe An Police have made continuous efforts, tried to overcome all difficulties, firmly protected national security, ensured social order and safety in the area, paid attention to implementing well all aspects of construction work, technical logistics, especially deployed measures to ensure religious security, neutralized activities that violate national security, effectively fought against all types of criminal, economic and drug crimes, successfully discovered many famous cases, and were commended and rewarded by the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.

For two consecutive years (2016 - 2017), the Ministry of Public Security commended Nghe An Police in the entire force for their administrative reform work and for three consecutive years (2015 - 2017), Nghe An Police was honored to receive the excellent emulation flag from the Prime Minister. In early 2018, all aspects of police work met and exceeded the planned targets.

At the working session, Nghe An Police also made 6 proposals to the Minister and the working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security on issues related to crime prevention, drug prevention and force building.

Concluding the working session, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the efforts and endeavors of Nghe An Provincial Police in all aspects of work. At the same time, the Minister also suggested:

Nghe An Public Security Force continues to do better in ensuring security and order; promote the advisory role and strengthen the fight against all types of crimes; strengthen state management of security and order, fire prevention and fighting, traffic order and safety... to create a favorable environment for economic and social development; focus on implementing Party building work, building a clean and strong force; tighten discipline, order and regulations associated with taking care of policies for officers and soldiers so that the team can always work and fight with peace of mind, and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

The Minister emphasized: In the coming time, Nghe An Provincial Police need to focus on three major issues, including the fight against extremist crimes in the area; the fight against drug crimes and issues related to political and ideological work, staff organization, and apparatus organization in Nghe An Police.

On the same afternoon, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam and the working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security also visited and worked at the Nghe An Fire Police Department.
