Nghe An pagodas give thousands of gifts to people in flood-hit areas of Central Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - In order to share the difficulties with people affected by floods in the Central provinces, many pagodas in the province have organized donations and directly given thousands of gifts to people in flood-affected areas.

On October 15 and 16,VenerableThich Tam Thanh - Abbot of Co Am Pagoda (Dien Chau) and Phuc Lac Pagoda (Nghi Loc), together with Tam Bo De charity association traveled by boat and waded in the water.flood, walked in the rain, directly visited people in some isolated communes such as Hai Thanh, Hai Que, Hai Vinh, Hai Truong... in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province and gave more than 600 gifts including necessities and cash to people.

Previously, on October 14 and 15, the Buddhist delegation of Huong Sen Monastery, Duc Hau Pagoda (Vinh City) also traveled hundreds of kilometers to Phu Vang District, Thua Thien Hue Province, then traveled by boat and tractor to visit and give hundreds of gifts of necessities and cash to people affected by floods in Vinh Thai and Phu Xuan communes, and also burned incense to express condolences to families affected by the floods.victimsdeaths in recent storms and floods.

Currently, Co Am Pagoda and Duc Hau Pagoda are continuing to call on Buddhists, philanthropists, and volunteer clubs to donate material support to share the difficulties with our beloved Central region compatriots.

In addition, other pagodas in the province such as Chi Linh (Yen Thanh Buddhism), Pho Mon Pagoda (Vinh City), Vinh Phuc Pagoda (Nam Dan)... are also launching charity programs towards the Central region.

On the Yen Thanh Buddhist group, there is an appeal: During the past few days, many flood-affected areas in the Central region have been flooded, without electricity, people have no food reserves, no place to cook, many people are hungry and thirsty, including the elderly, children and the sick; property, clothes and vehicles have been submerged in water.

Faced with that miserable situation, with the spirit of mutual love, Yen Thanh Buddhism officially mobilized and called for the joint efforts of all Buddhists and friends near and far to turn to the beloved Central region.

Pho Mon Pagodais organizing the charity program “Beloved Central Vietnam” calling on everyone, all walks of life to eat less, wear less, spend less on morning coffee, save one day’s salary, save packages of noodles, cans of rice… to share the difficulties with people in the flooded areas of Central Vietnam. These pagodas have all established charity committees to receive contributions from everyone.

After a short time of calling, the pagodas have received the support of many Buddhists and benefactors (contributing rice, instant noodles, clothes, cash) and are planning to move to the flood-affected areas to directly give gifts to the people here in the coming days./.
