(Baonghean.vn) - Typhoon No. 2 caused severe damage to many buildings, houses, and trees in localities in Nghe An province. The government and people are making efforts to repair the damage.

*In Thai Hoa Town,100% of high-voltage and low-voltage power lines were affected, causing power outages. This included four power poles that collapsed; and one street light pole at Hieu Bridge that was knocked down.

The measured rainfall was 106 ml; wind gusts reached levels 8 and 9. Heavy rain and strong winds caused many trees along inner-city roads to fall. Strong winds also caused damage to the corrugated iron roofs of 4 houses, 1 house had its roof blown off, and 1 workshop was damaged.

"More than 5,750 power poles in Nghe An were broken and collapsed during Typhoon No. 2."

Currently, 100 hectares of rice fields are flooded; 35 hectares of sugarcane are damaged; and 6 hectares of corn are flattened. In addition, thousands of rubber trees have also been broken due to the storm.

Immediately after the storm, departments and localities in Thai Hoa focused on recovery efforts. By 12:30 PM on July 17th, approximately 50% of the area had its power restored. The town continued to implement timely response plans to minimize damage to people and property caused by the storm.

* Nghia Dan suffered estimated damage of approximately 1.6 billion VND due to typhoon No. 2.

Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 2, in Nghia Dan district, 193 houses had their roofs blown off, 1,000 meters of fences collapsed, and 95 power poles were knocked down. The area of ​​rice paddies in low-lying areas and stream valleys that were flooded and flattened was 100 hectares. Corn and vegetable crops were flattened and flooded: 250 hectares. Fruit trees were broken: 100 hectares. Banana trees were broken: 50 hectares. Sugarcane trees were broken: 2,000 hectares. Forestry trees were broken: 300 hectares.

Two reservoirs, Khe Giang and Danh 9 (Nghia Loc commune), suffered embankment erosion of 7-10 meters; 5 hectares of aquaculture ponds were flooded, resulting in the loss of aquatic products for local people.

The estimated damage caused by Typhoon No. 2 in Nghia Dan district is approximately 1.6 billion VND.

Immediately after the storm passed, the Nghia Dan district authorities dispatched teams to direct storm relief efforts in affected areas and mobilized forces to participate in storm recovery efforts alongside the local people.

Nearly 1,000 trees and almost 200 hectares of forestry trees were broken or uprooted.

Typhoon No. 2 brought strong gusts of wind that knocked down 250 power poles, causing a complete power outage in Do Luong. The storm also ripped off or damaged the roofs of 465 houses and several schools.

Currently, Do Luong district is focusing on directing efforts to overcome the aftermath of the storm and stabilize the lives of the people. The district's storm and flood control steering committee has formed teams to go directly to the affected areas, and at the same time mobilized the army, police, and volunteer youth to focus on clearing fallen trees, restoring power outages, and assisting people in repairing their houses.

By 2 PM that same day, some communes and agencies had electricity, and most roads were now open to traffic.

In response, the militia, border guard station, and commune police came to help residents transport their belongings and relocate to safe areas.

Mr. Luong Thai Quy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Van commune, said: Last night, floodwaters in Nam Hat stream rose high, and the commune directed households to evacuate immediately. Currently, many rice fields and ponds belonging to residents are flooded, and the roof of Dong Van 2 Primary School has collapsed.

During an inspection at the resettlement sites for the Hua Na hydropower project, Mr. Lu Dinh Thi, Secretary of the Que Phong District Party Committee, requested that the local authorities deploy forces to assist residents in transporting their belongings to safe locations. He also instructed that personnel be stationed at river and stream banks and in the reservoir to absolutely prevent people from fishing or crossing rivers and streams.

Mr. Lu Dinh Thi stated: "The district has postponed the 3rd session of the 17th term of the District People's Council to focus on directing the khắc phục hậu quả (mitigation of consequences) and to proactively prepare and respond if the remnants of the storm affect the area."

* Quy Hop DistrictModerate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind, caused damage to some property and crops. According to statistics from the Quy Hop District Flood and Storm Prevention Steering Committee, one house in Ha Son commune was completely destroyed due to a tree being uprooted and falling on it; fortunately, there were no casualties.

Nine other houses had their roofs blown off, 50 hectares of summer-autumn rice crops were flooded, 70 hectares of crops and sugarcane were submerged and damaged, four temporary bridges across the river in Chau Cuong, Tam Hop, and Tho Hop communes were swept away by the flood, many rubber trees and green trees were uprooted and broken by the wind, and many ponds and lakes were flooded.

Currently, in Quy Hop district, the situation is still ongoing, with water from upstream continuing to flow in, causing streams to rise and flow rapidly. District leaders have formed numerous teams to inspect the situation, directing local authorities to encourage households at risk of landslides to relocate from dangerous areas, and to support families whose houses have collapsed or had their roofs blown off to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives as soon as possible.

* Preliminary statistics from the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District,Typhoon No. 2 ripped off the roofs of 285 houses, toppled 167 power poles and 11 radio transmission towers. It flooded 76 hectares of summer-autumn rice, 393 hectares of corn, beans, and peas, 70 hectares of cassava, uprooted nearly 30,000 forestry and fruit trees, and felled 205 hectares of acacia trees; it also flooded 22.4 hectares of aquaculture farms, killed 102 livestock and over 2,000 poultry.

Immediately after the storm on July 17th, the district leaders and relevant agencies went directly to the affected areas to supervise and work with the people to overcome the damage and quickly stabilize their lives.

* The entire Nghi Loc district630 households were affected, including 37 households whose houses suffered severe roof damage; 451 power poles were broken or collapsed, causing widespread power outages; nearly 50,000 trees in the area were uprooted; and 6 km of irrigation canals collapsed. Many other transportation and irrigation infrastructure projects were severely damaged. In terms of agricultural production alone, nearly 673 hectares of crops and 8 hectares of aquaculture farms in the district were damaged and flooded.

Over 7,000 stainless steel water tanks belonging to Son Ha One-Member Limited Company were blown away by the wind due to a lack of securing, landing on National Highway 1A, Provincial Road 536, in the mountains, and in surrounding ponds and lakes.

Immediately after the storm passed, the leaders of Nghi Loc district went directly to the affected areas to inspect and direct local authorities in overcoming the consequences. They mobilized the entire population to participate in repairing infrastructure, clearing roads, repairing houses, and conducting thorough environmental sanitation in flooded areas to prevent potential outbreaks of disease among people and livestock. They also implemented measures to restore agricultural production, businesses, and services after the storm and floods, as well as relief efforts to quickly stabilize people's lives.

* Quick report from the Nghe An Department of TransportationFollowing Typhoon No. 2, many roads were affected by landslides with over 18,000 cubic meters of mud and soil. Specifically, National Highway 48, 160 km long, from Yen Ly to Que Phong, experienced landslides in 5 locations. For example, at Km 117+650 (in Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district), a landslide covered the embankment, creating a 10m long, 5m wide, and 1.5m thick drainage ditch. At Km 120+100, Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, a landslide covered the roadbed and created a 7m long, 9m wide, and 0.4m high drainage ditch. The estimated landslide volume is 2,500 cubic meters.

Particularly severe damage occurred on National Highway 16 (Western Nghe An Road), a section over 200 km long connecting Thanh Hoa province through Tuong Duong, Ky Son, and Que Phong districts; with over 11 landslide locations involving more than 5,000 m3 of rock. For example, at km 305+600 on the left side of the road (in Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district), a 40m long, 3m wide, and 3m high embankment landslide occurred. On Provincial Road 532, there were 4 landslide locations along the route with an estimated volume of approximately 8,000 m3.

Currently, there are 7 flooded locations, including National Highway 48E, the spillway at Km 59+950 (in Nghia Binh commune, Nghia Dan district) is flooded to a depth of 0.7m, the Sao River spillway at Km 61+800 (in Nghia Binh commune, Nghia Dan district) is flooded to a depth of 2.7m, and the spillway at Km 39+400 (Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district) is flooded to a depth of 0.4m. Provincial Road 534B, the Khe Than spillway at Km 19+100 (Tien Ky commune, Tan Ky district) is flooded to a depth of 0.8m, and the Khe Trang spillway at Km 26+900 (Tho Son commune, Anh Son district) is flooded to a depth of 0.4cm. The total estimated damage is over 53 billion VND. The Department of Transport is currently coordinating with local authorities to promptly address the consequences of the storm and heavy rain.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Ky, Director of the Department of Transport, said: "On the morning of July 17th, the Department formed a team to inspect traffic routes to promptly address any issues. The Department has directed 7 traffic management units to coordinate with local authorities to promptly khắc phục the consequences caused by the storm. Specifically, they mobilized machinery and equipment to quickly repair landslides and ensure traffic safety. In flooded areas, the management units coordinated with local authorities and the transport inspection force to organize patrols and reroute traffic to ensure smooth flow."
