Vietnamese car manufacturers advise drivers 'not to be afraid of E5 gasoline'
E5 gasoline is accepted by manufacturers to be used similarly to A92, without reducing performance as many drivers mistakenly believe.
From 2018, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) will replace all A92 gasoline currently used with E5 biofuel. Before this time, drivers were concerned that E5 gasoline was more likely to cause fires, damage engines, and have poor performance, making cars slower than A92. Technical experts from car manufacturers in Vietnam said that these doubts were emotional, and in fact, the two types of gasoline have the same effect.

E5 gasoline has the same effect as A92. |
E5 bio-gasoline includes 95% A92 and 5% ethanol alcohol (C2H5OH), mixed like this to reduce emissions, improve the environment compared to 100% A92. Experts from Ford Vietnam said hThe combustion efficiency of E5 and A92 is the same on car engines.
"The formula of 95% A92 and 5% alcohol will not make E5 gasoline have any obvious weaknesses compared to A92," he shared.
The difference may exist, but only on very large engines, or requiring very high performance, and only professional race car drivers can feel it. In fact, these cars use A95 gasoline or higher.
Sharing the same view, technical consultants from Honda, Toyota, Suzuki... said that Vietnamese drivers do not need to worry, and should use E5 instead of A92 as usual. Of course, to have the most accurate answer, it is necessary to test and inspect the two types of gasoline for a long time.
Experts also note that the car manufacturer itself has confirmed that it is possible to use E5 gasoline with the same effect as A92, through the instructions written in the manual. Accordingly, current gasoline engines are allowed to mix up to 15% Ethanol, from E5 to E15, while still ensuring normal operation.
For example, Honda Civic Turbo cars can use gasoline mixed with alcohol up to E20, while CR-V Turbo can use gasoline mixed with alcohol up to E15.
Many drivers are still cautious, saying they will use A95 if A92 is no longer available and do not trust E5. Regarding this issue, manufacturers say that A95 gasoline (octane 95) does not help the engine run more smoothly as drivers claim. "There is a difference, but it is too small to be felt on commercial vehicles," said a technician.
Meanwhile, luxury car drivers are not much interested in switching from A92 to E5, because most luxury cars are currently using A95./.
