100% of kindergarten, primary and secondary school teachers in Hanoi still go to work during these record cold days, ready to take care of children when parents need them.

Head of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Tu Liem District (Hanoi) Le Thu Huong said that since January 25, many kindergartens and primary schools in the area have allowed students to stay home when the temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius. Today (January 26), secondary school students are allowed to stay home because the temperature is below 7 degrees Celsius. The school sent a message to parents to proactively take care of their work and keep their children warm.

According to Ms. Huong, yesterday about 30% of preschool children still went to class. "Many families have no one to look after their children so they still send them to school. We understand and sympathize, so we are ready to take care of them, paying special attention to keeping them warm," Ms. Huong shared.

Marie Curie Primary School (Nam Tu Liem District) announced that the school's facilities (classrooms, dining room...) have two-way air conditioning to ensure the health of students during cold days, so the school is ready to welcome students. "Parents can rest assured to bring their children to school, remember to wear warm clothes," the school sent a message to parents.

Nhiệt độ xuống dưới 7 độ C nên ngày 26/1, học sinh các khối THCS, tiểu học, mầm non của Hà Nội được nghỉ học.
The temperature dropped below 7 degrees Celsius, so on January 26, middle school, primary school and kindergarten students in Hanoi were given a day off.

In response to the information that parents were only informed to proactively let their children stay home from school without knowing that the school would still arrange for caretakers, the Head of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Tu Liem District explained that the official document regulating the winter break from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stated that they would still look after and manage students if they still went to school. This was announced on the Department's website and many mass media.

Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Dinh District Nguyen Dac Hung and Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Xuan District Pham Gia Huu also said that on January 25, a few students still came to school. "The children were arranged in warm rooms with two-way air conditioning for teachers to manage," Mr. Huu said.

According to these education managers, even though students are on holiday, 100% of teachers in kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools still have to go to work. While students are away, teachers read documents, prepare lesson plans, attend meetings...

Linh Nam Primary School Principal Ta Thi Thanh Tam said that yesterday some parents did not read the messages and still sent their children to class, but when they found out it was a day off, they drove them home. No parent wanted their child to stay back in class.

Ms. Tam and Principal Ngo Ngoc Anh of Tran Nhat Duat Primary School are both concerned that the prolonged cold spell will affect the students' learning progress, so they have come up with a plan to make up for lost time to ensure the program for the students.
