(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 4, in Vinh city, the General Department of Population and Family Planning opened a training course on regulations related to the prohibition of fetal sex selection for provincial service providers.

Attending the training course were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Director of the Department of Population Structure and Quality; Mr. Ta Duy Quy - Inspector of the Ministry of Health; medical staff; leaders and staff of the Department of Population - Family Planning of 6 provinces and cities of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and obstetricians of hospitals and private clinics.

In recent years, the General Department of Population and Family Planning has implemented many activities to control the sex ratio at birth. This training course is part of the 2018 activities of the General Department of Population and Family Planning, aiming to support service providers and managers to better manage and advise customers not to choose the sex of their fetus.

At the training course, trainees will study some contents: Sex ratio at birth and the law on prohibiting fetal sex selection; Legal regulations and implementation of the task of not selecting fetal sex; Inspection and examination of the implementation of legal regulations on prohibiting fetal sex selection - Necessity, objectives and objects of inspection; Project on controlling gender imbalance at birth for the period 2016 - 2025.
