Officials of the National Assembly Office in 6 provinces were threatened with death, demanding 100 million

On the afternoon of October 16, Quang Tri Police said they had directed the verification of the case of Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong (Chief of Office of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation) receiving text messages threatening his life and demanding ransom.
According to the report, at 8:46 p.m. on October 15, Mr. Cuong received a text message saying "someone wants to kill him for 100 million." The texter also demanded ransom to provide the perpetrator's identity and evidence.
"I feel uneasy when I receive messages even though I don't hold grudges or owe anyone money," said Mr. Cuong.
According to authorities, not only Mr. Cuong, but also five leaders of the National Assembly Office in the provinces of Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Ha Tinh, Quang Nam, and Bac Giang also received text messages with the same content, phone number, and account requesting money.
