To develop the main agricultural and forestry processing industry of Nghe An province by 2020, with a vision to 2030, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assessed the current situation, achievements and limitations, and shortcomings in the period 2010-2014, and at the same time built viewpoints, goals and planning content for product development, investment, technology, labor and solutions to develop the agricultural and forestry processing industry into a strong and modern economic sector.
The planning is built on the basis of practice in conjunction with the policies of the province and industry.

Accordingly, by 2020, the production value of processed agricultural and forestry products is expected to reach 13,790 billion VND, with an average growth rate of 12.2 - 12.7% per year in the 2016 - 2020 period; and the vision to 2030 is expected to reach 23,953 billion VND.
The export turnover value by 2020 will reach 327.25 million USD, the average growth rate in the period 2016 - 2020 will reach 17.02%; The vision to 2030 will reach 489.50 million USD. To achieve the above growth rate and targets, the investment capital demand in the period 2015 - 2030 is estimated at about 7,000 billion VND.

Specifically, for tea products, by 2020, the province's tea area will reach 10,000 hectares, fresh tea bud yield will reach about 13 tons/ha, output will reach 130,000 tons of fresh buds, and processing will reach about 24,000 tons of various types of dry tea.
By 2030, continue to stabilize the area, focus on applying high technology in production to achieve a yield of 16 tons/ha, output of 160,000 tons of fresh buds, and processing of 32,000 tons of dried tea buds. In addition, plan to develop other agricultural products such as: sugarcane, rubber, cassava, meat processing, rice, fruit juice - vegetables.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong said: The Planning Project Report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is quite complete and detailed and has proposed groups of solutions for each main product. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that the Project must have specific arguments and must select the main types of agricultural and forestry processing products, key areas of the agricultural sector and make reasonable adjustments in scale, space allocation and resource allocation to create fundamental changes in agricultural and forestry processing in each period and each locality.
Developing the agricultural and forestry processing industry into a spearhead economic sector, modern, sustainable, with products of high added value, competitive in the domestic and international markets, successfully building Nghe An agricultural and forestry product brands. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will soon supplement and complete the Planning project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval in the near future.
