On the afternoon of May 12, under the chairmanship of comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the provincial working delegation had a working session with Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company to grasp the difficulties and problems of the units operating and doing business in Cua Lo port area. Cua Lo Port is a national class 1 international general port, serving domestic cargo transportation; export and import for provinces in the region, Laos and the Northeast region of Thailand. Every year,Cua Lo International PortReceives thousands of domestic and international ships loading and unloading goods with a cargo volume of about 3-4 million tons. It is estimated that Nghe An province has 1,000-1,200 containers exported domestically and internationally each month.

However, Nghe An Seaport is not in the group of important seaports, therefore, in recent years, the Central Government has not invested in breakwaters; the Central Government's budget is limited, so the shipping channel has only been dredged to a height of -7.2m and the dredging and expansion of the turning area to ensure the entry and exit of 10,000DWT fully loaded ships, increasing the capacity to exploit goods and receive large tonnage ships has encountered many difficulties.

Meanwhile, the area adjacent to Cua Lo port has a large population living around it, which has greatly affected the production and business activities of the port. Wharfs 5 and 6 are currently in the process of completion and have exploited routes, however, the road to the port has not been invested synchronously...
In particular, the long-standing unresolved difficulty is the fact that fishermen's fishing boats are still frequentlyoccupying Cua Lo wharfanchorage, hindering the operation of wharves, maritime safety and security and order at the port.

Mr. Bui Kieu Hung - General Director of Nghe Tinh Port said that these fishing boats often anchor and moor mainly at berths 3, 4 and 5 - which are deep-water ports, specializing in loading and unloading goods for foreign ships and container ships. This occupation is not in accordance with the International Code for Ship and Port Security (ISPS Code), so ships are very reluctant to enter Cua Lo Port, especially ships from developed countries such as Japan, the US, the EU, South Korea... do not enter Cua Lo Port.

At the meeting, representatives of the leaders of Cua Lo port, departments and branches pointed out the difficulties and shortcomings; proposed a number of solutions to overcome difficulties in the port area; requested the competent authorities to take timely measures and instructions to quickly complete the new fishing wharf (the construction time of the new fishing wharf has lasted nearly 10 years). There are solutions to coordinate with local authorities to mobilize (or force) people to comply with the relocation of fishing boats out of the Cua Lo Port wharf area to ensure maritime safety, in accordance with the provisions of the International Code on security and ports; ensure conditions for receiving ships from developed countries entering and leaving the port.
The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that recently, Nghe An's export turnover has grown strongly, but there are many bottlenecks, especially the problem of goods imported and exported through the port. To solve the immediate problem for export enterprises, it is necessary to move fishing boats out of the port area, anddredging. Cua Lo Port with a depth of -7.2m makes it difficult for cargo ships to enter and exit.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh said that in order for Cua Lo port to be worthy of being a regional seaport, the issue is to complete Nghi Tan fishing wharf for boats to enter and exit. In the immediate future, it is necessary to classify ships, bring small ships to Nghi Tan fishing wharf to arrange and clear Cua Lo port. Ships of fishermen from other provinces requesting guidance on anchoring at Cua Hoi Port have been invested synchronously. Cua Lo town quickly collects statistics, propagates, and mobilizes fishermen to move fishing boats out of the port area, forming the habit of anchoring at the new fishing wharf.
