The working group surveyed key pine forest communes in Nghi Lam, Nghi Dong, Nghi Loc. At the scene, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Nghi Loc District People's Committee said: Nghi Loc District manages over 3,000 hectares of pine forest. Right from the beginning of the hot season, Nghi Loc District has focused on propaganda, raising people's awareness in forest protection, clearing vegetation, and implementing forest fire prevention and control plans well.

Specifically, up to this point, Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board has cleared 400 hectares of vegetation, repaired 63 km of firebreaks, purchased 7 more blowers, and 12 chainsaws. Since April 15, Nghi Loc district has strictly maintained the forest fire monitoring regime. Mobile militia platoons have been organized to patrol key forests at high risk of fire. In addition, 4 forest fire monitoring cameras have been installed in 4 areas to monitor forest fire prevention and control in 10 communes.

The working group continued to inspect forest fire prevention and control work in Dien Phu commune, Dien Chau. Most of the areas in this area have not been treated, and the risk of forest fires is high.

According to the report of Dien Chau Forest Protection Department: The whole district has over 3,200 hectares concentrated in 9 communes, of which only over 200 hectares have been treated, the remaining over 3,000 hectares have not been treated, mainly concentrated in Dien Phu and Dien Doai communes. The reason the above areas have not been treated is because the forests are mainly managed by local authorities, lacking funding.

Speaking at the scene, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu acknowledged the fire prevention and control work of Dien Chau and Nghi Loc districts, and requested that in the coming time, the two districts need to step up propaganda work on fire prevention and control to each citizen, and strictly maintain the on-duty command regime throughout the hot season. It is necessary to enhance the responsibility of commune-level officials and effectively implement the "4 on-site" motto. Do a good job of investigating, verifying, and tracing the cause to find the culprit of the forest fire.

Particularly for Dien Chau district, measures must be taken to deal with the vegetation in areas at risk of forest fires. The province will consider supporting Dien Chau to build firebreaks in the border areas between Dien An, Dien Phu, Dien Chau communes and Nghi Yen, Nghi Loc.
