Specifically, Manchester police posted a notice on Facebook that they had just discovered Charizard - a rare Pokemon in the game Pokémon GO in the police headquarters area. Along with this notice was an invitation for the "luckiest person" to come and catch this Pokemon. The guest list was attached to the notice, including the names of people currently wanted by the department.
The US police hope that the invitation and the attractive Pokémon will attract the suspects. This is completely reasonable when Pokemon GO has been a fever all over the world since its launch about 10 days ago. This is a game in which users will use their phones to catch virtual Pokémon, but they appear in real-life locations. Especially rare Pokémon will attract a lot of players. Last Friday, the appearance of Vaporeon - a super rare Pokémon in the US Central Park caused a lot of players to flock there and cause chaos.
Pokémon GO has only been officially released in 26 countries around the world (Vietnam is not included). Places where this game is available attract users to the streets or predetermined locations to catch Pokémon. There have been many concerns about users catching Pokémon in inappropriate locations or the app stealing players' personal information. Last week, police in Missouri, USA also said that an armed robber used the game to lure victims to deserted areas.
Back at the Manchester, New Hampshire, police department, they have yet to make any arrests, but the Facebook post has already garnered a lot of attention and 13,000 likes. Hopefully the officers here will be successful with this unique initiative.
