Thung Che bridge and spillway were washed away by flood in 2012, now only 2 bridge piers remain. |
The rain has stopped for several days, but at Thung Che spillway, floodwaters are still rising. Many people carry bicycles to wade through the broken spillway. Mr. Tran Quang Khoi, secretary of Hamlet 1, Phuc Thanh Commune, said: The reason why the rain has stopped but the water is still flowing rapidly is because of the water from the spillway of Quan Hai Lake, which has a capacity of 7 million m3.3flows here, accumulates at the local Thung Che lake and then flows through this spillway, making the water even bigger.

Every day, without a bridge, people still have to wade across a broken spillway, which is very dangerous. |
It is known that to reach the commune center, if going by district road 22, people in hamlets 1, Binh Nguyen, Yen Trung have to go 8km; while if going through the spillway, it only takes 1.5km. Therefore, about 700 households here defy the danger to go through this spillway.
A local resident said that every year during the flood season, people and cattle are swept away when crossing the spillway. To ensure the safety and convenience of people and students, we hope to see investment in a permanent bridge.
