A 300-year-old historical banyan tree in Nghe An was broken and fell.
Nghia Khanh Commune People's Committee, Nghia Dan District said that at around 5:00 p.m. on July 4, the Lang Tru banyan tree fell, most of the trunk and branches collapsing a section of the wall surrounding the relic site.
The Tru Village Banyan Tree (Nghia Khanh Commune) is a place that marks historical events of the Party Committee and people of Nghia Dan District during the revolutionary period of 1930 - 1945.

On the morning of August 22, 1945, under the leadership and organization of the Nghia Dan District Uprising Committee, thousands of people and a large number of workers in rubber and coffee plantations in Phu Quy area brought primitive weapons and gathered at the Lang Tru banyan tree, raised high the red flag with yellow star, shouted revolutionary slogans, and loudly organized demonstrations to show their power, marching to the center of Nghia Dan district, and took power into the hands of the people. Since then, August 22 has become the traditional day of the Party Committee and people of Nghia Dan district. The Lang Tru banyan tree has become a typical historical relic of the Party Committee and people of Nghia Dan district.

On August 20, 2012, the People's Committee of Nghe An province decided to recognize the Lang Tru banyan tree as a historical revolutionary relic. In 2016, the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association decided to recognize the Lang Tru banyan tree as a 300-year-old historical and cultural relic.
This is the second time that the Lang Tru banyan tree has partially collapsed. Previously, in March 2021, the banyan tree also broke, injuring 4 students. Nghia Dan district and Nghia Khanh commune have also had many solutions to restore and protect the banyan tree. However, at that time, the tree continued to collapse. Most of the trunk and branches collapsed a section of the wall surrounding the relic site. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.

Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee and the Nghia Khanh Commune Police, along with local people, mobilized machines and chainsaws to cut and clear tree branches.
The hundreds of years old banyan tree suddenly collapsed, causing people to worry about their safety as well as the fate of the heritage banyan tree./.
