On the morning of June 12th, a delegation from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, led by Deputy Director Nguyen Van Lap, inspected the establishment and operation of checkpoints to prevent the spread of African swine fever in Yen Thanh district.
Accordingly, the inspection team checked the checkpoints in the communes of Phu Thanh, Hong Thanh, Tho Thanh, and Tang Thanh.

Inspections revealed that local authorities setting up checkpoints did not ensure the necessary technical standards and service conditions for manning the checkpoints.
Comrade Nguyen Van Lap acknowledged that Yen Thanh district has paid attention to the prevention and control of African swine fever in the past period. However, the localities have not ensured that the establishment of checkpoints complies with the regulations of the Veterinary Department. Therefore, Comrade Nguyen Van Lap reminded Yen Thanh district to promptly rectify the shortcomings at the checkpoints.

That is, at each checkpoint there must be temporary shelters or booths to serve the checkpoint duty, ensuring 24/7 operation. The barrier posts must have easily accessible ropes; the disinfection pits must meet technical requirements. Checkpoints need to have logbooks and clear shift handover procedures.
The spread of African swine fever from one region to another is due to many reasons, including transmission through transportation. Therefore, establishing checkpoints is crucial for localities that have experienced outbreaks. Local authorities are requested to implement Decision No. 812, dated March 19, 2019, of the Provincial People's Committee.
