Commercial chicken farming applying Blockchain technology
Nghe An Provincial Agricultural Extension Center has just successfully built a model of "Commercial chicken farming according to VietGAHP standards, applying Blockchain technology" in Thinh Son commune, Do Luong district.
The model was implemented from the local Agricultural Extension program budget, with a scale of 2,700 hybrid Ho chickens, 01 participating household is Mr. Nguyen Cong Hai's family in Thinh Son commune.
Before implementing the model, the Agricultural Extension Center organized a survey to select locations and held meetings with households. When participating in the model, people were supported with 50% of the Ho hybrid chicken breed, mixed feed supplies, chemical disinfectants, vaccines, biological products; and 100% of the cost of VietGAHP assessment consultation. In addition, households need to write an application and commit to fulfilling the requirements, ensuring full and timely response to achieve the set results.
Before raising chickens, people are trained in technical processes from barns, breeds, feed, vaccination processes, criteria for applying VietGAHP processes, and how to apply Blockchain technology to chicken farming.
The household implementing the model has a workforce with a high sense of responsibility in nurturing and caring for the model, a timely and sufficient source of counterpart funds, and barns equipped with automatic feeding and drinking trough systems, fan systems to prevent heat and summer... The breeds provided meet technical standards; are healthy, disease-free, have clear origins from reputable production and business establishments, and have quality quarantine certificates for the breeds.

After 4 months of raising, the survival rate reached 95%, the average weight for sale was 2.6kg/head, the selling price was 80,000 VND/kg, the profit was more than 100 million VND and was certified to meet VietGAHP criteria.
The success of the model is that the chickens grow well and are less affected by the disease-free environment, have a high survival rate, and the broiler products are of good quality and are certified to meet VietGAHP standards for easy consumption.
The application of Blockchain technology has helped livestock farmers collect, store and transmit data (digital) from the production site to farm owners, companies and state management agencies such as the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, and market management agencies. Products at the sale stage can be traded on electronic sales channels. Buyers can track the origin and provenance of the products. This technology helps livestock farmers proactively control environmental, breed and feed indicators.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hai - the household implementing the model shared: The first time I raised broilers according to VietGAHP standards on a large scale, the initial investment was high and confusing and difficult. Applying blockchain technology is one of the breakthrough technology trends. We contacted the Food Safety and Nutrition Institute (NFSI) to register an account to use VFSC software in the farming process to trace the origin of products according to the principle of "from farm to table". Using VFSC software application has a warning system, periodic reminders, only using livestock materials with clear quality origin, controlling materials, chemicals, expiration dates, controlling costs, waste. This method helps chickens gain weight and achieve a much higher survival rate and is 20% more efficient than traditional farming.
This is the first large-scale broiler farming model according to VietGAHP standards, applying Blockchain technology in the commune. The model requires large investment and many counterparties, but households have agreed and cooperated to participate. The successful model results in clean, quality products, certified to meet VietGAHP standards, so the output is favorable, the products are supplied to schools in Do Luong district and clean food supermarkets in Nghe An and Hanoi. We will continue to promote and expand the model in the area.
