Fire in protective pine forest in Quynh Luu (Nghe An)

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of June 14, in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district, a fire broke out in a protective pine forest.

Mr. To Duy Hien - Chairman of Quynh Nghia Commune People's Committee said: At 8:00 p.m. on June 14, people discovered a fire in the protective forest area, in Hamlet 3. Upon receiving the news, Quynh Nghia Commune mobilized militia and local people to urgently put out the fire, and at the same time called the relevant agencies and units to come to the rescue.

Afterwards, the Quynh Luu Forest Rangers, Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department No. 4, and Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station arrived at the site to jointly deploy measures to extinguish the fire. Although the fire was small, due to the steep terrain and the nighttime, the fire trucks could not approach the fire area. Therefore, after 3 hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control.

Firefighters continued to stay to put out the ashes to prevent the fire from spreading and to deal with the consequences. The work was not completed until nearly 1 a.m.

The initial cause of the fire was determined to be due to some areas of eucalyptus trees near the pine forest being exploited, households clearing and burning the ground cover, so when the wind blew the ashes caught fire, causing the fire. Currently, the area of ​​protective forest damaged by the fire has not been determined.
