Article 187 of the 2024 Land Law stipulates the following regarding land used for salt production:
1. Land for salt production is allocated by the State to individuals within the land allocation limits stipulated in Article 176 of this Law in the locality for salt production. In cases where the current land user exceeds the allocated land limit, the excess land must be converted to leased land.
Land for salt production is leased by the State to economic organizations, Vietnamese people residing abroad, and economic organizations with foreign investment capital to implement salt production investment projects.
2. Salt-producing areas with high productivity and quality must be protected and prioritized for salt production.
3. The State encourages the use of land suitable for salt production to produce salt for industrial and domestic needs.
