Article 187 of the 2024 Land Law stipulates salt-making land as follows:
1. Salt-producing land is allocated by the State to individuals within the land allocation limit prescribed in Article 176 of this Law at the local level for salt production. In case the land user exceeds the land allocation limit, the excess land must be converted to land lease.
Salt-making land is leased by the State to economic organizations, people of Vietnamese origin residing abroad, and economic organizations with foreign investment capital to carry out salt production investment projects.
2. Salt-producing areas with high productivity and quality must be protected and given priority for salt production.
3. The State encourages the use of land with salt-making potential to produce salt for industrial and daily needs.
