The Government approved the task of developing the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The objective of the planning is to specify, synchronously connect and unify the spatial organization and development orientation of sectors and fields within the province as set out in the national and regional planning; create a basis for the implementation of urban planning, rural planning, technical and specialized planning in the province, to ensure connectivity, synchronization, inheritance, stability and system among the plans; eliminate overlapping plans that affect investment and development.

The requirements for the content of the planning need to orient development, arrange space and allocate resources for socio-economic activities in sync with national and regional planning decided by competent state agencies, aiming at the goal of sustainable development on all three pillars: Economy, society and environment; consistent with the context of international integration, commitments in multilateral and bilateral international treaties of which Vietnam is a member.

At the same time, ensure connectivity, synchronization, exploitation and effective use of the existing infrastructure system between sectors and inter-district regions and localities in the province; specifically identify areas used for military, defense and security purposes at the provincial and inter-district levels and orient the arrangement at the district level.

In addition, build and concretize guiding viewpoints on socio-economic development, ensure social security; focus on promoting the development of areas with difficult conditions, especially difficult conditions, ethnic minority and mountainous areas; ensure sustainable livelihoods, improve material and spiritual life for people; allocate, exploit and use natural resources reasonably and effectively in conjunction with preserving historical-cultural values, natural heritage for present and future generations.

The main contents of the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, are implemented in accordance with the provisions of Article 27 of the Law on Planning and Article 28 of Decree No. 37/2019/ND-CP dated May 7, 2019 of the Government, including the following contents: Analysis, assessment and forecast of specific development factors and conditions of Nghe An province; assessment of the current status of socio-economic development, current status of land use, current status of urban and rural systems; assessment of the current status of socio-economic infrastructure development; building viewpoints, determining goals and selecting development options, planning options, development directions of important sectors and plans for organizing socio-economic activities in the province.
