Officially blocking the flow and storing water at Khe Lai - Vuc Mau reservoir
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 15, Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake in Tan Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District was officially blocked. This event has important significance in ensuring water security, contributing to restructuring local agriculture, as well as improving the ecology and environment of the project area.
Khe Lai Lake - Vuc Mau Project, Tan Thang Commune, Quynh Luu DistrictApproved in June 2009, construction started in 2010, with a total investment of more than 227.8 billion VND. However, due to many reasons, the project was behind schedule and had to temporarily stop construction in 2017.
To continue developing this project, on October 29, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Decision No. 4228 approving the adjustment of the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake Project, Phase 1. The total investment of the project is 627 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance is more than 373 billion VND.
Accordingly, through on-site inspection by relevant departments, up to now, the work of blocking the flow and closing the main dam of the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake Project has met the conditions for implementation. Therefore, on the morning of April 15, the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake Project, Tan Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District was officially permitted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to block the flow and store water.
The damming of the river has been carried out to an elevation of 33-35m, and the reservoir will be able to regulate the upcoming flood. After the damming of the river is completed, the construction unit will proceed with the construction of the upstream embankment and other items. It is expected that by December 31, 2024, the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Lake Project, Tan Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District, will be completed.
This project, when put into use, will provide irrigation water for 1,524 hectares of cultivated land, including rice and industrial crops; at the same time, create a source of domestic water for 11,700 people in the surrounding area, supplementing the water source for Vuc Mau Lake with a reserve of 13.4 million m3.3/year and participate in flood reduction on Hoang Mai River, as well as contribute to improving the ecology and environment of the project area./.
