Officially introducing General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to be elected President
On the afternoon of October 22, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, presented the proposed personnel proposal for the National Assembly to elect the President.
Accordingly, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the 14th National Assembly, Hanoi National Assembly Delegation was introduced to the National Assembly to elect to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term.
The submission is based on Article 74 of the Constitution, Article 8 of the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, Article 31 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly Session and Point 4 of Resolution 34 of 2018 of the 8th Central Conference.

Emphasizing that competent authorities have carried out procedures in accordance with regulations on personnel work, with the requirement of ensuring the Party's leadership and promoting democracy in the activities of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman requested that National Assembly deputies carefully study the personnel report so that the National Assembly can make decisions to achieve good results.
This content will be discussed by National Assembly deputies at the Delegation. Tomorrow morning (October 23), the National Assembly Standing Committee will report the results of the discussion at the National Assembly Delegation and explain and accept the opinions of National Assembly deputies on the proposed personnel to elect the President.
The National Assembly will discuss and vote on the list to elect the President using the electronic voting system and conduct the election of the President by secret ballot. The results of the vote count for the President will be announced in the afternoon of the same day.
According to regulations, after being elected, the President takes the oath of office and delivers his inaugural speech before the National Assembly. The oath-taking ceremony is broadcast live on radio and television.
As reported, at the 8th Central Conference, the Party Central Committee unanimously (100%) introduced comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Party Central Committee to be elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam./.
