Town chairman investigated for causing loss of nearly 350 million VND

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Lang town (Hai Phong) is being investigated for directing payment in excess of construction volume, causing loss to the state budget.

On October 22, Tien Lang District Police, Hai Phong, said they were investigating the case of Tien Lang Town Chairman Pham Van Thia causing a loss of nearly 350 million VND in basic construction, after the District Party Committee's Inspection Committee transferred the conclusion file.

Previously, in early August, the Inspection Committee of Tien Lang District Party Committee concluded: At the project to renovate and upgrade the drainage system in the area, Mr. Pham Van Thia directed his subordinates to collude with Tien Lang District General Construction Joint Stock Company to do fraudulent business, paying more than the actual construction volume, causing a loss of nearly 350 million VND to the state budget.

One month later, the District Inspection Committee continued to issue a notice concluding that the Tien Lang Town People's Committee had committed violations. In 2008, the Town People's Committee was assigned to be the investor in the project of leveling and building a wall for the Tien Lang Town Secondary School so that the school could meet national standards.

250 million VND is the state budget allocated to Tien Lang town People's Committee to pay for the above project, but it was all appropriated.

The District Party Committee's Inspection Committee assigned the above responsibility to Mr. Le Van Tuyen, former Chairman of the Town People's Committee at that time, currently holding the position of Secretary of the Town Party Committee.

After reviewing the two conclusions, the Standing Committee of Tien Lang District Party Committee met and initially agreed to transfer the case file of the loss of nearly 350 million VND to the District Police Investigation Agency./.
