VFF President "rebuts" Mr. Duc's opinion about VFF's 8th term candidate

After the VFF Executive Committee (EC) meeting in Hanoi last weekend, Mr. Duc made a number of statements regarding the introduction of candidates and the qualifications of candidates for key positions at the VFF for the 8th term.

These statements are aimed directly at the current VFF standing committee member, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD), and General Director (GDC) of VPF Tran Anh Tu, who is currently a strong candidate for the position of VFF Vice President in charge of finance, succeeding Mr. Duc.

Regarding the above mentioned candidate, Mr. Duc believes that the fact that VFF only introduced Mr. Tran Anh Tu for the position of Vice President in charge of finance of VFF is a lack of competition. In addition, according to Mr. Duc, Mr. Tu is currently holding too many positions, so Mr. Duc believes that if he also holds the position of Vice President in charge of finance of VFF, it will be beyond his ability.

Regarding this issue, the current president of VFF, Mr. Le Hung Dung, does not agree with Mr. Duc's point of view. Mr. Dung even said that the situation of candidate Tran Anh Tu now is not different from Mr. Duc's situation 4 years ago, when Mr. Duc participated in the election for the position of VFF Vice President in charge of finance and fundraising, while holding the position of Vice President of VPF Board of Directors, and President of HA Gia Lai Club.

Mr. Le Hung Dung said: "At the 7th VFF Executive Committee Congress, when Mr. Duc ran for the position of Vice President in charge of finance, there was only Mr. Duc as a candidate, who else could it be?"

“When receiving nominations for any candidate, the Executive Committee will include them in the list for reporting. That is our current task, and the list of candidates will be decided at the term congress,” added VFF President Le Hung Dung. “How many candidates there are for each position depends on the characteristics of each term. Term 5 has 2 or 3 candidates, term 6 has one candidate, term 7 has one candidate. Candidates for term 8 come from the introduction of VFF member organizations.”

Regarding Mr. Duc's opinion that Mr. Tran Anh Tu is currently holding many different positions, so it is difficult for him to fully devote himself to each job, Mr. Dung said: "I think if he takes on many positions like that, it may take more time, but the election of personnel will be considered and decided by the Congress."

“This is the time before the Congress, so we need to absolutely respect the rights of the candidates. Every year, the VFF Executive Committee holds an annual congress, not just one congress for the entire term. The annual congress is meant to summarize and review the work. Any individual who does well or not will be responsible for explaining and reviewing, and if they do not complete their tasks, the congress will propose to elect another person” – still the words of the head of VFF.

As for Mr. Tran Anh Tu, who has been attacked by Mr. Duc in recent days, Mr. Tu said he has no comment on Mr. Duc's statement.

According to Mr. Tu, everyone has their own opinion and has the right to express that opinion publicly. As for the effectiveness of Mr. Tu's work and what he has done for Vietnamese football over the years, football management, experts and public opinion in general will have the most objective judgment.
