VFF President must be a person with a "voice"!
(Baonghean) - After many delays, the VFF Congress for the 8th term was postponed from March to April to prepare personnel for key positions, in which the candidate for the VFF President's seat has not yet reached a high consensus.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - General Director and Chairman of SLNA Club, it is okay to choose anyone but we have to find a worthy person. Previously, we also had high expectations for the key positions of the federation to change the face of Vietnamese football, but over many terms, sometimes we chose businessmen, sometimes we chose politicians but in the end Vietnamese football still has many existing problems. Therefore, according to Mr. Thanh, finding the person to "take the lead" in VFF this time will not be easy.

According to experts, in terms of foreign affairs and relations with international football organizations, the current prominent candidate is Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - currently the Permanent Vice President of VFF. Currently, Mr. Tuan is also nominated by many clubs for the position of President of VFF. However, not everyone agrees to let Mr. Tuan sit in the "hot seat", such as the case of former golden whistle Duong Manh Hung who even hung a banner protesting Mr. Tuan participating in the new term of VFF.
In addition to Mr. Tuan, there are other candidates nominated for the position of VFF President for the new term, such as Mr. Can Van Nghia (Director of My Dinh National Sports Complex), Mr. Le Quy Phuong (former Principal of University of Physical Education and Sports 2). Even Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc submitted a resignation letter from the position of VFF Vice President for the last term, but was still nominated by some people for the position of VFF President for the new term, but Mr. Duc firmly refused. |

For the position of Vice President of VFF, there are currently a number of candidates introduced such as Mr. Tran Anh Tu (Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of VPF), Nguyen Cong Khe (Chairman of Thanh Nien Media Group), Mr. Cao Van Chong (former General Director of VPF), Nguyen Lan Trung (former Vice President of VFF, term 6)...
Among those candidates, Mr. Nguyen Lan Trung was once criticized by public opinion for his controversial victory celebration on the double-decker bus carrying the U23 players during the parade.

That said, even in the nomination list, there are people who are "not liked" by the public and experts. So it is very difficult to choose people who can do the job and satisfy all members of the VFF. According to the "argumentative person" in the Vietnamese football world, Coach Le Thuy Hai, "The VFF President should choose someone who has a voice, a common voice in all aspects, not just in the field of sports. Because when there is a voice with the Ministry in charge, with the State, the title of VFF President will have value and football will be able to rely on it".
Regardless, the VFF term VIII will choose a new president, because Mr. Le Hung Dung (current president) will resign due to health reasons.
And whoever sits in the position left by tycoon Le Hung Dung must remember the message of former VFF President Mai Liem Truc: "The VFF President is not a place to make profit, to seek a position, to advance, but a place to commit, to be passionate and work to serve society. If we keep avoiding and pushing things away, our football will never develop."
