Get Korean boss drunk, steal money from ATM card
(Baonghean.vn) - After getting his Korean boss drunk, Hao searched his wallet and withdrew 74 million VND from his ATM card. Realizing he had been discovered, Hao returned the money and turned himself in to the police.
On November 24, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the first instance criminal trial of Tran Van Hao (born 1987), residing in Gia Hanh commune, Can Loc, Ha Tinh, for the crime of "Theft of property".
According to the records, Hao worked as an interpreter for Mr. Lee Shi Woong (a Korean, construction supervisor for a construction project in Vinh City). Hao knew that Mr. Woong had a lot of money, so he took advantage of Mr. Woong's carelessness to steal the room key, cut another key, and waited for the opportunity to act.

On December 6, 2016, Hao announced his resignation, so Mr. Woong invited him out for a farewell drink. Mr. Woong gave him his ATM card and read the password, asking Hao to withdraw money to pay for the drinks.
After getting drunk, Mr. Woong went home to sleep. Hao followed him, used the spare key to open the door, sneaked into Mr. Woong's house and stole his wallet. Hao took the ATM card (the card that Mr. Woong had told Hao the password for), and threw his documents and wallet in the trash.
Hao used Mr. Woong's ATM card to transfer 74 million VND to another person's account and then asked that person to transfer it back to his account. Mr. Woong discovered that the money in his account had been withdrawn so he reported it to the bank. Through the camera, Mr. Woong discovered that the person who made the transfer was Hao so he reported it to the police. The authorities froze Hao's account.
Knowing that he could not conceal his actions, Hao tried to return the embezzled money to Mr. Woong and surrendered to the Vinh City Police Department.
Previously, in January 2016, Tran Van Hao was sentenced by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City to 2 years in prison but given a suspended sentence for "Gambling", with a 4-year probation.
Considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Tran Van Hao to 3 years in prison for “Theft of property”. During the time of serving a suspended sentence for “Gambling”, Hao committed a new crime, so this sentence was converted to imprisonment. Applying current regulations, Tran Van Hao must serve a sentence of 5 years in prison for the crimes of “Theft of property” and “Gambling”.
