(Baonghean) - With the characteristics of a remote border district, education in Que Phong faces many difficulties. Therefore, the district has issued the Project "Improving the quality of comprehensive education in the period 2015 - 2020" and the initial implementation has created clear changes.

To implement the project, the People's Committee of Que Phong district has developed practical solutions: Innovating educational management; paying attention to building and developing the teaching staff; strengthening the infrastructure system; actively promoting the construction of national standard schools; strengthening Party building in schools and promoting the socialization of education.

The District People's Committee assigned specific responsibilities to departments, agencies, organizations, commune and town authorities and schools to ensure timely implementation. The total budget for the project is up to 157.13 billion VND, mobilized from support programs and projects throughout the district.

After nearly 2 years of implementing the project, the quality of education in Que Phong has initially had positive changes in all aspects. Right in the first school year, the rate of excellent teachers and excellent students at the district and provincial levels was quite high.

Specifically, there are 251 teachers who are excellent teachers at the district level, 21 teachers who are excellent teachers at the provincial level. Regarding students, there are 164 9th graders who achieved the title of excellent students at the district level, 273 students were recognized as excellent students at the district level in Physical Education, and 31 students were excellent students at the provincial level.

In particular, at the high school level, there was 1 second prize in the national interdisciplinary knowledge application competition, 10 excellent students at the provincial level, 2 third prizes in science and technology innovation and science and technology innovation at the department level, and 98% of graduates.

Currently, the district has 25 schools that meet national standards, including schools in border communes and remote areas. With efforts to solidify schools, schools have built 36 new classrooms, bringing the number of solid classrooms to 514.

The socialization of education has been promoted and actively supported by the people. Thanks to that, 17 prefabricated classrooms have been built at Tri Le 4 Primary School and 3 classrooms at Huoi May school (Cam Muon commune), helping teachers and students feel secure in teaching and learning, improving the quality of education.

However, the implementation of the Project still faces limitations and difficulties. That is, the scale of schools is small, most schools have many separate locations and many combined classes, so investment in building facilities is difficult and somewhat wasteful.

The percentage of excellent students at the provincial level is not high, the quality of education in particularly difficult areas is still slow to improve, and the situation of students dropping out of school still occurs. The capacity of some teachers is still limited, especially the number of teachers recruited and trained quickly.

The school infrastructure system is not uniform, there are many makeshift and degraded classrooms; there is a lack of public offices, functional rooms, service buildings and teaching equipment...

Through the discussion, Ms. Truong Thi Tuyet Mai - Vice Chairman of Que Phong District People's Committee said: "To complete the project's objectives, we continue to direct the re-planning of the school network, reducing the number of separate schools and combined classes. Focus on building facilities, boarding houses for students, building schools that meet national standards according to the roadmap...".
