(Baonghean.vn) - In the midst of extremely hot days, Mr. Pham Cong Duyen (53 years old) in My Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) still enthusiastically donated, bought vegetables, tubers, fruits, necessities... and transported them by cart to Vinh city to help people in the quarantine area.

In recent days, people on Highway 7 often see a rickshaw flying the national flag and hanging a sign with the words "All for the city".Vinh"Dear" truck loaded with vegetables and fruits, heading to Vinh city, that is the vehicle supplying necessities of Mr. Pham Cong Duyen in My Thanh commune.

Mr. Duyen said that because he realized that people in Vinh city were facing many difficulties during the process of social isolation to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic, he called on local people to join hands to donate and buy vegetables, fruits, and necessities to transport to Vinh city.

On the morning of July 4, after purchasing a cart full of vegetables, squash, etc. in My Thanh commune, Mr. Duyen drove his own cart nearly 60 km to Vinh City. When arriving at the quarantine checkpoint in Nghi Lien commune, he handed over the above materials to a number of organizations and individuals to distribute to people in Vinh City. At 12 noon, after handing over the necessities, he turned his cart back to Yen Thanh.

According to Mr. Duyen, in the past few days, he has organized 2 such shipments to help people in Vinh City. On the first trip, after calling for donations, he added more money to buy 800 bunches of water spinach, 13 bunches of green bananas, 100 kg of squash, pumpkin, sweet soup... On the second trip, he called for donations to buy 700 bunches of water spinach, 12 bunches of bananas, 200 kg of squash, pumpkin, bitter melon, Malabar spinach, rice, instant noodles...

Mr. Duyen said that if Vinh city is still implementing epidemic prevention isolation and people still have needs, he will continue to make "charity trips" to supply vegetables and fruits, to share difficulties with people.

Mr. Duyen's act of donating, purchasing vegetables, fruits, and necessities and personally transporting them to Vinh City by rickshaw to support people in the quarantine area moved many witnesses.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai, residing in Vinh City, shared: “I don’t know how to express the noble gesture of Mr. Pham Cong Duyen. I am very grateful to him. People in Vinh City sincerely thank him and wish him a safe journey.”

It is known that Mr. Duyen's family is in the wedding service and restaurant business. He and his wife have 3 children, the daughter is married, the two sons are working in Japan. Mr. Duyen participates in activitiesvolunteerfor many years and has organized many meaningful programs such as calling for material help for families in difficult circumstances, building charity houses...

During the historic flood in 2020, he called for material donations and organized 7 charity truck trips (8 tons of goods/trip) to support people in flood-hit areas of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh...

As soon as the Covid-19 epidemic broke out in the northern provinces, Mr. Duyen planned to call for and organize a charity trip to transport goods to Bac Giang to help people there. However, when he went to the People's Committee of My Thanh commune to ask for permission, the commune leaders did not agree, because they were afraid that his trip would spread the disease. Therefore, he canceled this charity plan.

“I participate in volunteer activities to help those in difficult circumstances, encourage them to rise up in life, that is humanity, brotherhood, and compatriotism. At first, I only called for help for people in the commune, then with everyone's support, I paid attention to more difficult circumstances, expanding the scope of activities beyond the district and beyond the province" - Mr. Duyen confided.

Talking about Mr. Duyen's work, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Thanh commune - Mr. Pham Cong Su said: Mr. Duyen's call for and purchase of vegetables and fruits to transport to Vinh to help the people there is a very welcome gesture.

Over the years, Mr. Duyen has participated in many volunteer activities to help disadvantaged people in the area. These activities not only have practical significance for many households, but also contribute to spreading the spirit of mutual love and social security movements in the locality.
