Vinh City Police work with relevant parties in the case of an ambulance not being allowed to give way.
Vinh City Police said they have worked with relevant parties in the incident where an ambulance, despite using its siren, refused to yield to vehicles in front because of a red light, which occurred on February 10.
According to the leader of Vinh City Police, after social media was stirred up by the scene of an ambulance using its siren to give way but the car in front refused to run a red light on the morning of February 10, the unit summoned the relevant parties to work.
At the meeting, Vinh City Police analyzed the errors of the parties involved. The first error belonged to the ambulance, because the ambulance, when it sounded its siren to let the car in front give way, should have gone straight. However, because the car in front did not give way (an Altis car), the ambulance crossed the road to the right lane and was blocked by a black Fortuner car.

Vinh City Police also informed that, in principle, when a priority vehicle signals to overtake, all vehicles participating in traffic must reduce speed (including the Altis in front of the ambulance and the black Fortuner in the right lane), move close to the right curb or stop to give way, and cannot wait until the ambulance is close behind to give way.
At the meeting, Vinh City Police also checked the licenses and transport orders of the ambulances of the vehicles. All parties also presented all relevant documents. Because this was not a serious or complicated incident, Vinh City Police only issued a warning.
Previously, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on the morning of February 10, an ambulance was traveling from Vinh city center to Vinh airport on Le Nin Avenue. When reaching the intersection between Le Nin Avenue and Pham Dinh Toai Street, the ambulance continuously pressed its lights and horn to give way. However, at this time, the vehicles in front were stopped at a red light. Because there were other vehicles in front, including a black Fortuner car, the ambulance could not pass. Only when the traffic light turned green could the ambulance move. After the video was shared on social networks, many people expressed mixed opinions.
Immediately after that, there were concerns about the possibility of being fined for "running a red light" when giving way to priority vehicles.Nghe An Traffic Police Department also gave an explanation.According to the principle of handling administrative violations, in urgent situations, if the vehicle moves in the correct lane, on the correct part of the road and for a legitimate reason, it will not be penalized. This means that in the case of stopping at a red light but there is an ambulance or other priority vehicle behind, the vehicles in front can run the red light to give way without being penalized.
