Prime Minister's telegram on ensuring electricity supply in 2022 and following years

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 1813/CD-TTg dated December 24, 2021 on forecasting electricity demand, using electricity economically and efficiently; ensuring electricity supply in 2022 and the following years.

Ensuring a stable supply of electricity for production, business and people's lives is the top political task of the Electricity industry.

Telegram sent to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government; People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities; Vietnam Electricity Group, stating:

The solid guaranteepower supplyProviding electricity for production, business and people's lives is the top political task of the Electricity industry, especially in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the Electricity industry has basically ensured electricity supply, however, difficulties have arisen due to the imbalance of electricity supply and demand in some areas. To resolve the arising difficulties and problems, in conjunction with implementing the country's economic recovery program in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested:

1. The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall proactively coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to direct the implementation of solutions to firmly ensure national energy security, ensure safe and reliable electricity supply for all aspects of production, business and people's lives in 2022 and the following years, especially during holidays, Tet and the dry season; promptly report to the Prime Minister on issues beyond its authority.

2. People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, ministries, ministerial-level agencies and agencies directly under the Government:

a) Conduct assessment and forecast of electricity demand for production, consumption and daily life in 2022 and the increasing demand in the following years up to 2025 of the locality, ministry and sector in charge, and send it to the Ministry of Industry and Trade before December 31, 2021 for synthesis and development of a plan to ensure electricity supply.

b) Closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in implementing solutions to ensure energy security and ensure safe and reliable electricity supply.

c) Strengthen the implementation of electricity saving measures according to Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated May 7, 2020 of the Prime Minister.

3. Vietnam Electricity Group shall be proactive in forecasting electricity demand, closely monitoring developments in electricity demand in 2022 and the following years to develop an optimal operation plan in accordance with regulations; carry out the operation of the national power system to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency; promptly report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to handle issues beyond its authority.

4. Assign Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh to direct the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to have comprehensive, synchronous and effective solutions to ensure sufficient electricity supply for production, business and people's lives in the new situation and the following years./.
