Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company invests in the construction of an international general port.
(Baonghean.vn) - The project to build Song Lam Nghe An International Port in Nghi Thiet Commune, Nghi Loc District (Nghe An) has just officially started. The investor expects to effectively promote the deep-water sea area to serve the socio-economic development of the North Central region.
Realizing the potential of Nghi Thiet seaport area (Nghi Loc - Nghe An), negative depth (-) from 9 -13.5m, besides exploiting a specialized port serving ships of 70,000 DWT - 100,000 DWT (exploited according to the Decision on port announcement No. 1625/QD- CHHVN dated October 17, 2017 of the Vietnam Maritime Administration), The Vissai Group and Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company invested in ports in the direction of general port exploitation.

On that basis, it is possible to reasonably exploit the ports in Specialized Wharf Area No. 1. This development direction is suitable forPlanning and exploitation strategy of seaports of Nghe An province and the Ministry of Transportto meet the socio-economic development needs of Nghe An province now and in the coming period.
According to the planning, Nghe An has seaports: Cua Lo port area (currently has 5 wharves, 3 warehouses and a storage yard with an area of 39 hectares, total capacity of 5 wharves is about 6 - 8 million tons of goods/year); The Vissai cement specialized port in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district with an area of about 407.15 hectares, serving ships from 70,000 DWT (tons) to 100,000 DWT; DKC petroleum port (a specialized port serving the export and import of petroleum for large ships up to 49,000 DWT); Northern deep-water port of Cua Lo Port (construction scale of 1 berth for 30,000 DWT ships and 1 berth for 50,000 DWT ships, land use area of about 20 hectares. The project is currently in the stage of completing documents and legal procedures) and Dong Hoi Port with an area of 1,096.7 hectares (including land and water areas).

Located in the Southeast Economic Zone, the Vissai International Seaport project has a total investment of nearly 1,100 billion VND. Of which, the specialized port was put into operation in 2017 to serve the export and transportation of cement and clinker for Song Lam Cement Factory as well as The Vissai Group.
According to Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan - Director of Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company, investing in ports in a comprehensive manner will fully exploit the functions of deep-water sea areas as well as promote the investment efficiency of the unit. Up to now, the company has completed the investment in the construction of wharves No. 1, 2, 3 and the breakwater, the system of waterways, water areas, pilot pick-up and drop-off areas to accommodate ships up to 30,000 DWT - 50,000 DWT. At the same time, the company is accelerating the construction of wharves No. 4, 5, 6, 7 and the system of logistics services for goods storage, packaging, packing, warehousing, and goods circulation according to the approved plan.
Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan added that the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company have also proposed the Ministry of Transport to add the function of a general wharf and a container ship-sized container for the Vissai Nghi Thiet Seaport area. When approved by the Ministry of Transport, the Vissai Nghi Thiet Seaport area in Nghe An will certainly bring about positive effects. Because for a long time, Port Area No. 2 has made an important contribution toSong Lam Cement Joint Stock Company exports clinker and cement.domestic and export to dozens of countries.

The Song Lam Nghe An International Port Project is being implemented by the investor, Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company (under The Vissai Cement Group), in coordination with consultants and contractors to accelerate the progress. When the project comes into operation, it will attract the demand for storage of goods, packaging, warehousing, and circulation of goods through the seaport. It is expected that this deep-water seaport will create a driving force for the development of the North Central region and promote economic exchanges with the Northeast regions of Thailand and Central Laos./.
