In 2016, 16/19 dams were exhausted, the company implemented many solutions to effectively combat drought: Organize many plans, construction and non-construction measures, set up rotational irrigation schedules, distribute according to appropriate plans so that irrigation water for the self-flowing system. For areas with difficulty in irrigation water, advise localities to change the crop structure. Focus on dredging and clearing canals, timely maintenance and repair of medium and small irrigation works to meet irrigation needs.

For the self-flowing system, water has been directed to be reasonably compressed, giving priority to the areas at the end of the canal in Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts. The reservoir area has timely solutions such as digging canals to get irrigation water from Bau Da lake (Dien Lam, Dien Chau), Ma To lake (Tan Thanh, Yen Thanh), dredging the lake bed to get irrigation water from Ve Vung and Quan Hai reservoirs (Yen Thanh)..., setting up field pumping stations in dead water areas, streams, and recirculating water to save rice. Mobilizing localities to install more medium and small field pumps to pump in difficult areas and the company supports part of the pumping costs for people. Thanks to that, the rice area managed by the company is guaranteed irrigation water.
