(Baonghean.vn) - Voters of Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city proposed that the Provincial People's Committee submit to the Provincial People's Council to name some streets in the ward. In addition, the naming of streets should be based on famous people associated with the history of the province, the street names should be short to be easy to remember and meaningful (for example, the road section from Thong Nhat railway to hamlet 7, Hung Chinh commune was named Dang Thi Hong Van, people commented that it was not suitable because the name was long and not associated with the history of Nghe An province).

The Department of Culture and Sports has consulted on the process of naming, renaming streets and adjusting the length of roads in Vinh city, Nghe An province, phase VI in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 91/2005/ND-CP dated July 11, 2005 of the Government on promulgating the Regulation on naming, renaming streets, roads and public works.
According to the process, the dossier for naming streets in Vinh city, phase VI, has been approved by the Advisory Council, solicited comments from relevant departments, branches and sectors, and posted on the electronic information portal of Nghe An province and Vinh city to solicit public opinions.

Particularly for Vinh Tan ward, where Dang Thi Hong Van street passes through, Vinh City People's Committee has directed Vinh Tan Ward People's Committee to organize the collection of opinions from local people and the Ward People's Committee has issued Report No. 238/BC-UBND dated June 8, 2021 on the results of the collection of opinions with high consensus from the people.
On August 13, 2021, the Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 09/2021/NQ-HDND on naming, renaming roads and adjusting the length of roads in Vinh city, Nghe An province, phase VI, in which the road section from the North-South railway to hamlet 7, Hung Chinh commune, with a length of 850m, was named after Dang Thi Hong Van. She is a scientist from Nghe An.
LThe brief biography is as follows: Ms. Dang Thi Hong Van (1925-1991) - Professor, the first female Correspondent in our country, from Dien Tho commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province. After graduating from high school, Dang Thi Hong Van studied at Hanoi University of Pharmacy. While in her second year of study, the nationwide resistance war broke out, she joined the army. In early 1953, she graduated from the University of Pharmacy.
In 1955, she transferred to the Ministry of Health and became a lecturer at the University of Pharmacy. In nearly 40 years of teaching, she has participated in training thousands of senior pharmacists, postgraduates and guided 7 PhD students to complete their PhD theses.
Over 20 years as head of the pharmaceutical department, she has participated in research and presided over 40 scientific projects. On October 7, 1990, Professor Dang Thi Hong Van was awarded the title of InstituteCorresponding member of the French National Academy of Pharmacy for his great contributions to the field of Pharmacy.
Thus, the choice of the famous scientist Dang Thi Hong Van to name a street in Vinh city is in accordance with regulations. In addition, her name is not too long compared to some other street names in the province.
