H5N6 bird flu appeared in Quynh Tam commune (Quynh Luu)
(Baonghean.vn) - According to information from the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station, an outbreak of H5N6 avian influenza has just occurred at the household of Ms. Nguyen Thi Sam in Hamlet 6, Quynh Tam Commune. Authorities have destroyed 346 chickens.
Previously, on November 27, Ms. Nguyen Thi Sam’s family’s chickens showed signs of depression, staggering, bleeding from their legs and combs, and then died quickly and in large numbers. Ms. Sam bought medicine to treat the chickens herself, but after two days the number of dead poultry continued to increase. Therefore, she called the commune veterinary staff and the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station.
Upon receiving the information, the authorities sent officers to collect samples and send them to the Regional Veterinary Department 3 for testing. As a result, Mrs. Sam's family's chickens tested positive for the H5N6 virus. Immediately after receiving the results, the Provincial Veterinary Department, the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the District Veterinary Station coordinated with the People's Committee of Quynh Tam Commune to destroy the total flock of 346 chickens of Mrs. Sam's family. At the same time, chemicals were sprayed, and the barns in this area were disinfected. In addition, the local authorities were directed to vaccinate poultry in the entire commune to prevent the spread of the disease in a timely manner.

It is known that H5N6 avian influenza is a dangerous infectious disease, spreading rapidly, causing great economic losses to farmers. Currently, the whole Quynh Luu district has 2.1 million poultry. Relevant levels and sectors are actively promoting propaganda work, raising awareness for farmers, when detecting signs of the disease, they must immediately report to the authorities for timely handling.
The H5N6 virus can be transmitted from poultry to humans and from one person to another, so it is very dangerous. Therefore, Quynh Luu district is recommending that people limit contact with sick and dead poultry and waste from poultry farming; use meat and poultry products of clear origin and cooked thoroughly.
