Saving the life of a girl run over by a concrete mixer truck
Patient (28 years old) was lucky to have a miracle, her life was saved by surgeons after more than 4 hours of complex muscle connection and plastic surgery.
On August 27, Da Nang General Hospital announced: For the first time and in a rare case of complex multiple trauma involving simultaneous reattachment of muscles, bones, and intestines, the hospital's "special" surgical team successfully performed plastic surgery, saving the life of a female patient who had a serious traffic accident. The lucky patient was Ms. Nguyen Thi BN (28 years old, residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city).

Previously, at around 7:00 p.m. on July 19, on her way home from work, Ms. BN's motorbike collided with a concrete mixer truck with license plate 43A-… traveling in the same direction. The collision caused Ms. BN to fall onto the road and was run over by part of the truck's wheel, dragging her for more than 10 meters before stopping.
The patient was admitted to the emergency room at Da Nang General Hospital in the following condition: Complex laceration of the wound, nearly half of her body severed; contusion of the abdominal wall muscles and skin extending from the back to near the spine. The entire intestine and appendages were exposed, complex tear of the left diaphragm, rupture of the intestinal serosa, and contusion and loss of about 40% of the abdominal wall muscles. The patient lost a lot of blood with a fracture of the left humerus (with nerve compression), spinal trauma with fractures of the L1-L3 ganglion spine, S3 fracture, and pelvic fracture. The patient was lethargic, unresponsive, had no pulse, and could not measure blood pressure...

Immediately upon receiving the patient, doctors at Da Nang General Hospital urgently diagnosed and performed emergency surgery. The surgery lasted more than 4 hours with 20 liters of blood transfused to the patient.
According to Da Nang General Hospital: This is a difficult and rare case, especially complicated. Usually the patient dies immediately upon admission, or dies after surgery due to blood loss and infection. After 21 days of successful surgery and active treatment, the patient's other body functions have gradually recovered.
