On the afternoon of August 8, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center received a distress call from the captain of the Lucky Star ship (Palau nationality), traveling from Malaysia to Hong Kong, 100 nautical miles southeast of Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), when crew member Nguyen Van Vuong was in distress.

Specifically, crew member Nguyen Van Vuong was working on the Lucky Star ship when he was hit very hard by a cable, suffering a head injury, a broken shoulder and left arm. Crew member Nguyen Van Vuong is in critical condition.

Immediately after receiving the above information, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center requested the captain to maintain regular contact and provide medical advice, instructing the captain to organize first aid to ensure survival for Mr. Vuong. At the same time, the Lucky Star was requested to immediately change direction to the coast of Nha Trang. The center also mobilized the specialized rescue ship CN02-TSA, which is on standby in Nha Trang, to go to the rescue.

At 3:00 a.m. on August 9, the specialized canoe CN02-TSA approached the Lucky Star ship. Medical staff performed first aid and brought Mr. Vuong to shore for emergency treatment. Mr. Vuong was transferred to Khanh Hoa 115 Hospital for emergency treatment and is out of danger.
