According to the report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An Province, the flood caused heavy damage to people and property. Of which, 6 people were swept away by the water, including:

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Que, born in 1958, Moi hamlet, Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district; discovered a low-voltage power line had fallen into the yard, so he went out to hang it up again. The power line leaked electricity, causing Mr. Que's death at 4:30 a.m. on October 10, 2017.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai, born in 1966, residing in hamlet 5, Quang Son commune, Do Luong district, went fishing at Nghi Kieu fish lake, Nghi Loc district and was also swept away by the water.

In Chau Tien commune, Quy Hop district, Lang Gia Huy, born in 2013, residing in Ban Pat, slipped and fell into a stream near his house at 6:10 a.m. on October 10, 2017.

In Yen Thanh district, Le Thi Huyen, born in 2015, residing in hamlet 4, Ly Thanh commune, slipped and fell into the flooded area in the alley in front of her house.

In Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district, Ms. Ho Thi Sau, born in 1993, residing in Long Thanh hamlet, slipped and fell while crossing a culvert in Son Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, at 2:00 p.m. on October 10, 2017.

In Quynh Vinh commune, Hoang Mai town, Ms. Le Thi Ngoan, in hamlet 9, was swept away by water on the way to take her grandchild to school.

In addition, according to information, in Nam Dan district, Ngu Van Quyen, a resident of hamlet 17, Khanh Son 2, followed his friend to the field to catch rats in Nam Phuc commune and was swept away by the water. In the afternoon, his body was found.

The flood also caused 584 households to be flooded, 1 house collapsed, 3,661.8 hectares of corn and vegetables to be flooded; more than 1,600 poultry were killed and swept away. Heavy rain caused the river water to rise, causing landslides on the Lam River bank, the embankment protecting the Ta Lam dike (in the area of ​​Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city; Hung Xa commune, Hung Nguyen district; Thanh Khai commune, Thanh Chuong district, the Ta Lam dike on the right side of Thanh Chuong district, Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan district, Ro river, Vo Liet commune, Thanh Chuong district...); the Lam River bank next to people's houses, Lam Bong village, Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district was eroded and had cracks along the edge of the National Highway 7 corridor about 25m long; 6 dams were affected, 20,223 meters of canals were eroded; 1,600 hectares of ponds were flooded, nearly 500 hectares of fish in the third crop were lost...

Faced with the complicated developments of rain and floods, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue recommends:

1. Localities continue to urgently and effectively implement the contents of the Telegrams of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue;

2. Urgently deploy work to overcome the consequences of damage caused by floods, visit families of deceased people, support collapsed houses, to stabilize people's lives and restore production;

3. Check the situation of damage to dikes, dams and other damages caused by floods to proactively respond according to the approved plan. At this time, the reservoirs in the province have been filled with water. The Chairman of the People's Committee of districts and towns, the director of irrigation companies in each reservoir are required to assign 1 to 2 comrades to inspect and detect incidents every day and promptly report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control (through the Standing Office) for timely solutions.

4. Operate drainage works, drainage shafts, drainage canals, closely coordinate with irrigation companies to operate timely drainage for urban areas as well as residential areas and agricultural production,

5. Localities deploy plans to prevent flash floods, landslides; warn people about locations at risk of landslides, underground passages, overflows, and traffic jams; mobilize vehicles and forces to guard traffic, provide warnings, and close roads to ensure safety.

6. Organize a 24/7 on-duty team from the province to the grassroots level to proactively handle any situations that may arise.
