Forest fire in Thanh Chuong has been controlled.
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the hot weather, on the afternoon of June 29, a forest fire broke out in Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Chuong district; the fire was brought under control at around 10:00 p.m. the same day. Today (June 30), forest rangers and local authorities are on duty 24/7 to prevent the fire from breaking out again.

The fire broke out at U Bo peak - the area adjacent to Son Tien commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh. The initial cause was determined to be a fire spreading from Ha Tinh. After discovering the fire, Thanh Chuong district leaders directly directed and mobilized district forces along with local authorities to focus on handling the situation.

Due to the darkness and high mountains, it was very difficult to put out the fire, but by 10pm on June 29, the fire was extinguished. According to Mr. Nguyen Khanh Thanh - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, through initial statistics, the total burned area was about 2.5 hectares, mainly bushes, reeds and some acacia, so the damage was insignificant.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang - Head of Thanh Chuong Forest Protection Department added: To deal with this forest fire, the district mobilized over 200 people, mainly local forces and forest rangers, police, and soldiers. Thanh Xuan area, Thanh Chuong district borders Son Tien commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province about 5-7 km. Most of the border areas do not have firebreaks, so the risk of forest fires spreading is very high.
Currently, forest rangers and local authorities are focusing on keeping watch 24/7 to prevent fires from breaking out again and to prevent new fires from appearing.

Regarding the forest fire in Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh), Phan Dinh Thanh confessed to using a lighter to burn trash in the garden but did not expect the fire to spread to the protected forest area.
