Delegates from Nghe An questioned the Deputy Prime Minister about solutions to ensure electricity supply for production.

Mr. Tran Nhat Minh - National Assembly Deputy in charge of Nghe An delegation asked the Deputy Prime Minister to inform about the current situation and solutions to ensure electricity supply for production.

On the morning of June 6, at the National Assembly House, under the chairmanship and direction of Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly. The National Assembly continued the Question and Answer Session Program at the 7th Session. Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, on behalf of the Government, clarified issues in 4 groups of questions and directly answered questions from National Assembly deputies.

Speaking at the question and answer session, Mr. Tran Nhat Minh - National Assembly member in charge of Nghe An delegation raised the concern of foreign investors, including high-tech projects and semiconductor chip manufacturing, when coming to explore investment opportunities in Vietnam, which is ensuring electricity supply, especially electricity supply through the direct renewable electricity trading mechanism.

“Please tell us about the current status of electricity supply for production, including the service of these potential projects. How has this situation affected the opportunities to attract foreign investment in recent times?”, delegate Tran Nhat Minh further questioned: “How is the Electricity Sector currently implementing the VIII Power Plan, what are the difficulties and the Government’s directions and solutions in the coming time?”

Responding to questions from delegate Tran Nhat Minh, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha shared the concerns of the delegates, especially in the context that in 2023 there was a period of local power shortages in some localities in the North.

Faced with the above situation, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that recently, the Government and the Prime Minister have directed drastic and comprehensive solutions to ensure electricity supply with specific solutions.

First of all, it is important to focus on implementing projects related to power sources; removing current obstacles in mechanisms and policies to invest in projects. Along with that, the Government focuses on solving the electricity distribution issue through the construction of the 500kV line 3, with a very fast time, to be completed by the end of June 2024, to regulate electricity between regions.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister said that our country has solutions related to diversifying power sources, ensuring competition in power sources through the development of a Decree related to buying and selling electricity directly with customers. In particular, for renewable energy, the Government is developing and promulgating a decree so that all people with a roof can provide self-production and self-consumption for consumption.

“With the State’s responsibility to ensure adequate and safe supply of electricity sources; ensuring the responsibility and initiative of enterprises, especially enterprises ensuring energy security, I believe we can solve the current problem,” Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed.
