VFF Congress: "Hot" and surprising personnel

According to the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation, the VFF Executive Committee of the 8th term has a maximum of 17 members. The positions of President and Vice President of VFF are automatically members of the Executive Committee and are elected first. The remaining 13 members of the Executive Committee are from the list of 39 people (including 30 Executive Committee candidates and 9 "failed" candidates when electing Vice President).

With 4 leadership positions, there is 1 candidate for Chairman (Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai), 3 candidates for Vice Chairman of Professional Affairs (including Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Duong Vu Lam, Pham Ngoc Vien), 4 candidates for Vice Chairman of Finance (including Mr. Tran Van Lieng, Can Van Nghia, Le Van Thanh, Nguyen Hoai Nam) and 5 candidates for Vice Chairman of Communications (including Mr. Cao Van Chong, Luong Hoang Hung, Nguyen Van Phu, Nguyen Lan Trung, Phan Anh Tu).

According to the assessment, the positions of VFF President and Vice President in charge of professional matters are unlikely to slip away from the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai and the current Vice President of VFF Tran Quoc Tuan. The two positions of Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Communications, as usual, will be hot and full of surprises at the last minute. Simply, none of them has the outstanding ability to overwhelm the votes.

At the 89th minute, Mr. Le Hong Cuong - General Director of Becamex Binh Duong Club and Mr. Tran Minh Tam - Chairman of Can Tho Club suddenly withdrew from running for the new VFF Executive Committee. Thus, the list of candidates for the Executive Committee has 30 people left for the congress to elect 13. Personnel is also the issue that caused the 8th VFF Congress to be continuously postponed from March to December 2018, due to problems and scandals.

Not only being elected at the congress, everyone can happily get to work, but in this term, when VFF President Le Hung Dung's health is not guaranteed, everything is in chaos. The three VFF Vice Presidents look in three directions, causing Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc to insist on resigning, and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Gu, in charge of communications, got involved in an incident of going with a "stranger" in a hotel, so much so that he had to write a resignation letter before the deadline.

As soon as he was elected as Vice President of Communications, Nguyen Xuan Gu was predicted to be restless because this journalist was not in the “plan”. Only Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan remained in office, holding on to the helm with a pile of lawsuits about all sorts of “dungeons”, mainly because he did not want him to become President of VFF.

Then Mr. Nguyen Cong Khe - Chairman of Thanh Nien Media Corporation, a prestigious journalist nominated for three positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman of Finance and Vice Chairman of Communications also "insisted" on withdrawing. Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc - Chairman of HAGL Club was nominated for Vice Chairman of Finance of VFF term VIII, argued fiercely with Mr. Tu about this position but when nominated, he firmly refused.

Some people were nominated for many positions but voluntarily "took on the burden within their capacity" in the style of "knowing the enemy, knowing yourself" such as Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Vice President of VFF, term VII (withdrew his candidacy for President of VFF, term VIII but still ran for Vice President of Professional); Mr. Pham Thanh Hung - Chairman of Quang Ninh Club (withdrew his candidacy for Vice President of Finance but still ran for Executive Committee member); Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Chairman of VPF Company (withdrew his candidacy for Vice President of Finance but still ran for Executive Committee member)... The "weight reduction" ensures that these candidates are more promising and the chance of winning becomes much higher.

The most interesting thing is that except for the VFF President position, which is elected 1-for-1, the remaining positions have a surplus of candidates. This shows that the "football house" of Vietnam is attracting more and more attention. From now until the election, there will certainly be many interesting dramas appearing.
