Speaking at the workshop, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in charge of education, Ms. Ai Chuman thanked Nghe An province in general and Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in particular for creating conditions for the delegation to organize the event, conveying to Nghe An students information about studying in Japan.

To make the dream of studying abroad come true for students, the Japanese Government has MEXT scholarships, awarded to about 300 Vietnamese students each year. This is a full scholarship including admission fee, tuition fee, living expenses and round-trip airfare.

In addition, Ms. Ai Chuman also warned about the situation where some study abroad companies and foreign language centers paint "rosy" scenarios that are not true to reality to scam Vietnamese students.

“That is why the Embassy and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Representative Office are very interested in providing official information to Vietnamese students before they go to Japan to study,” the Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy emphasized.

Earlier, speaking with leaders of Nghe An province during a courtesy visit the same morning, Ambassador Kunio Umeda warned about the situation of some study abroad companies and foreign language centers defrauding Vietnamese students going to Japan.

“About 20% of Vietnamese youths forge Japanese language certificates. In Nghe An, there are also some study abroad centers and companies that show signs of fraud,” the Ambassador said, asking the province to support the verification and correction of these cases.

In the seminar program, JASSO also added a number of information channels for students to access, consult, look up, and easily choose a school that suits their abilities and aspirations.

Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, also known as Phan School, was established in 1974 and is the earliest specialized school in the North. This is one of the high schools with the top educational quality in the country.
