Embassy of the Republic of South Africa visited and worked in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 14, within the framework of the visit and working session in Nghe An, the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa led by Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau had a working session with the provincial leaders at the Provincial People's Committee Office.

Receiving and working with the delegation were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Speaking at the working session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong welcomed the visit of the working delegation and introduced to the Embassy delegation some characteristics of the socio-economic situation of Nghe An.

Nghe An is the largest province in the country, with a population of 3.2 million people, possessing the strength of exporting agricultural products to countries around the world, notably tea, coffee, etc.

Many foreign investors have recently actively invested in Nghe An’s agricultural sector, rapidly increasing productivity and output. The wave of investment from Singapore, Japan, Korea, etc. in various fields and industries has also contributed significantly to the province’s growth rate.

Currently, trade cooperation between Nghe An and South African enterprises is generally modest. In 2015, the value of exports to South Africa only reached 147,000 USD, mainly garments, stones, etc. Nghe An has not yet imported any goods from South Africa and no South African enterprises have invested in Nghe An.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong affirmed that he wanted to promote cooperation between South Africa and Nghe An in many fields such as trade, tourism, etc.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong welcomed the visit and workshop organized by the Ambassadorial delegation in coordination with VCCI in Nghe An, considering this an opportunity to open up potential for bilateral cooperation development in the fields of trade, tourism, application of science and technology in agricultural production, etc.

The South African Ambassador highly appreciated the highlights in the socio-economic development of Nghe An.

The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa introduced at the working session some outstanding strengths of localities in South Africa, and affirmed his desire to learn and further strengthen the cooperative relationship between South Africa and Nghe An in particular and Vietnam in general, stabilizing the trade balance between the two countries.
