Some households have been smart enough to propagate and grow chili in their gardens and harvest regularly because the chili has a favorable output.

Chili pepper, also known as wild chili pepper, often grows wild on fields and high mountains in some mountainous districts, including Con Cuong district. This type of chili has a small fruit size but a spicy, especially fragrant and clean taste, so it is used by people all year round, many tourists buy it as gifts when passing through Con Cuong.
Grasping the demand, many households in Con Cuong district have grown this type of chili to increase their family income. A typical example is the household of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Long in Quyet Tien village, Chi Khe commune. On the family's fruit tree area, she took the seeds of Siamese chili to propagate and then intercropped, both saving space and helping the plants grow well due to the shade. Mrs. Long said: Every 10 days she harvests once, each time more than 20 kg.
Currently, this type of chili is being sold at a price ranging from 50-80 thousand VND/kg, so each month from harvesting this type of chili, her family also has an income of over 3 million VND, which means that each year the chili brings in an income of over 30 million VND.

Dozens of households in Nua village, Yen Khe commune also grow chili peppers for sale. According to Ms. Luong Thi Hai in Nua village, this type of chili pepper often bears fruit, harvested every 10 days, almost all year round. After each harvest, it is only necessary to mound the base, add a little manure, organic fertilizer, and does not require much investment in care, so the family can take advantage of the off-season farming.
Currently, the chili peppers are harvested by the villagers and sold to restaurants and eateries in the area, and some traders from other places come to buy them.

Restaurants in the area also salt chili with fish sauce. Before salting, the chili is cut off the stem, washed, drained and then soaked with garlic and fish sauce. Notably, the fish sauce used to salt chili must be pure fish sauce. Currently, each jar of pre-packaged salted chili is sold by restaurants in the district for 50,000 VND and has become an attractive gift for tourists every time they set foot in Con Cuong.
