Dan Bau will be a 'specialty' at the Asia-Europe New Music Festival
The Vietnamese monochord will be an important highlight in the program series of the 2nd Asia-Europe New Music Festival and the 34th Conference of the Asia-Pacific Composers' Association (ACL) (taking place from October 12-18 in Hanoi). According to musician Do Hong Quan, head of the Organizing Committee, this is a "customer-oriented" activity.

“International colleagues have expressed interest in traditional Vietnamese art. Therefore, in the festival, we chose the monochord to introduce it," the musician said. "This is a traditional musical instrument of Vietnam from thousands of years ago, using natural materials associated with the countryside, crafted by artisans and having a lasting vitality in the community."
It is expected that with the workshop called Vietnamese Monochord, experts and artists who have directly performed and taught this instrument such as People's Artist Thanh Tam and Nguyen Tien will analyze and illustrate with sound for international artists attending the festival.
This year's Asia-Europe New Music Festival attracts over 200 musicians and artists from 30 countries around the world: England, India, Poland, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, Malaysia, America, Japan, New Zealand, Korea, France... The program will include 11 concerts in many genres: symphony, chamber music, folk, ethnic, musical, ballet, choir...
