'Skilled mass mobilization for clean production' in Dien Chau

(Baonghean) - With the goal of food management starting from the farmers' production stage, the emulation movement "Citizen mobilization for clean production" has been widely deployed by the Party Committee and authorities at all levels of Dien Chau district with many practical activities, creating safe agricultural products on the market.

This is also an important content in implementing the project "restructuring the agricultural sector", implementing the district party resolution for the 2015 - 2020 term.

Dien Trung is the commune with the largest number of chicken and shrimp farms in the district. Determining that safe food farming is crucial to the sustainable existence of the livestock industry, the Dien Trung Commune Party Committee has directed the construction of two models of "smart mass mobilization for clean farming" for chicken and shrimp.

The model building is assigned directly to the farmers' association to coordinate with the commune's Livestock Cooperative to deploy implementation solutions, assigning officers in charge of the areas to regularly guide, inspect, urge, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, and mobilize farmers to comply with safety regulations.

At the same time, in coordination with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, we have trained and inspected food, egg quality, chicken meat, shrimp, etc. Thanks to that, more than 60 shrimp farming households in the area have applied biosafety farming methods, 119/162 chicken farms in Dien Trung commune have been granted VietGAP livestock farming certificates by the Nghe An Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management.

Like the family farm of Mrs. Cao Thi An, hamlet 8, was mobilized by the commune's farmers association to participate in the VietGAP production program, so the chicken egg products are consumed at stable prices. With 2,000 laying hens, her family earns a profit of 900,000 VND per day.

Ms. An shared: The Farmers' Association of the commune and hamlet propagates about epidemic prevention, disease prevention, and not using banned substances. In addition, they help with continuous inspection and testing of food so that the chickens eat well, lay many eggs, and have stable consumption, so the family earns high profits.

Talking about building "clean production" models, Mr. Ngo Lan - Secretary of the Dien Trung Commune Party Committee said: Every year, the Commune Party Committee has resolutions and special topics to direct the issue of safe livestock farming for the people. Accordingly, in addition to building a clever mass mobilization model, we also have policies to attract businesses to consume products, ensuring prices for people. Households that comply with livestock farming regulations according to VietGAP standards are certified and livestock owners are granted certificates of livestock farming knowledge by the commune to be introduced to businesses that consume products, and are supported by organizations to borrow capital to develop production.

If Dien Trung focuses on livestock farming, Dien Xuan commune is known as the large vegetable granary of Dien Chau district with more than 200 households specializing in growing vegetables with an area of ​​nearly 90 hectares.

To gather people to grow vegetables, creating convenience in mobilizing production to ensure food safety and hygiene, the commune has established 6 vegetable growing groups in the whole commune. Each group has built a skillful mass mobilization model of "safe vegetable production" with the participation of the standing committee of the farmers' association, the Party cell committee and the hamlet executive committee.

Along with promoting the safe vegetable production process, the commune also signed a commitment with all vegetable growing households, Party committees and Party cells to set an example and directly mobilize vegetable growing households not to use pesticides in the banned list, use safe biological products and ensure quarantine time before selling, at the same time linking safe vegetable production with cultural family evaluation at the end of the year, adding to the village covenants and conventions of hamlets in the production of commercial vegetables.

Every year, the commune organizes an assessment of the members' compliance with safe production. Thereby, it commends typical examples and also provides a form of reminder to households that violate the association's regulations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan, a farmer specializing in growing cucumbers in Dien Xuan commune, said: Commune officials actively propagate, the hamlet executive committee comes to mobilize, and the people who grow cucumbers also propagate, mobilize, and share experiences with each other to ensure safe production, grow clean and safe vegetables, build their own brand and ensure the health of consumers.

Biosafety shrimp farming for high income in Dien Trung commune.

Dien Chau district currently has 2,100 hectares of aquaculture, 1,200 hectares of vegetable production and more than 250 large and small farms raising livestock and poultry, providing a large source of food not only in the district but also for consumption in and outside the province.

Implementing the resolution of the 30th District Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020, the District People's Committee has developed a project to "restructure the agricultural sector", focusing on planning concentrated production areas, applying high technology to increase economic efficiency and ensure food safety and hygiene.

Along with the participation of functional sectors, skillful mass mobilization work with clean farming and livestock models is closely directed by Party committees and authorities, mobilizing the participation of mass organizations in the political system.

As a result, from 4 district-level skillful mass mobilization models in safe chicken, pig and shrimp farming, up to now the whole district has built 120 diverse skillful mass mobilization models in various fields suitable for each production area.

Farmers' associations at all levels - the core force in the clean production movement - have skillfully mobilized farmers to build more than 1,200 bins for collecting plant protection waste in the fields, 1,600 biogas tanks, and more than 200 households to apply biological bedding in livestock and poultry farming, contributing to protecting the rural environment and maintaining hygiene in residential areas.

There have been 168 farms certified for VietGAP livestock farming. In addition, there have been more than 10 models of vegetable, fruit and mushroom production invested in large scale with high technology.

Mr. Phan Xuan Vinh - Vice Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee said: The issue of food safety and hygiene is now becoming urgent and to manage this issue from the root, the District People's Committee has coordinated with the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, mass organizations such as farmers, youth union, and women's union to build models of skillful mass mobilization for clean production and safe production. Initially, it has created a very exciting emulation movement throughout the district. The skillful mass mobilization work is deployed in the form of coming from households, propagating and explaining, then showing demonstration models so that people are fully aware. On that basis, the commune signs a commitment with each household on the issue of clean food production.
