Evaluation of forest protection and development results in 2013

Conference Overview
2013 was the first year of implementing the task of forest protection and development supported by economic career capital. Some newly issued documents were slow and not synchronized, leading to many difficulties in implementation. However, with the drastic and timely direction of relevant levels and sectors, the efforts of units, projects and forest owners, the implementation of the task of forest protection and development in the whole province continued to achieve many results.
Units and forest owners have coordinated with local authorities and organizations to propagate and mobilize people to protect over 888,695 hectares of existing forests, protect 85,280 hectares, and take care of 22,000 hectares of forests. As of November 20, the total area of concentrated planted forests in the province reached over 15,391 hectares and 5 million scattered trees; exploited and processed 500 thousand cubic meters of wood, 1,672 tons of pine resin. In addition, the Forestry sector has done a good job of planning raw material areas for projects in the area; adjusted and reviewed the planning of 3 types of forests in the districts of Ky Son, Tan Ky, and Quynh Luu. The sector has also done a good job of handling violations of forestry laws, forest fire prevention and control, and preventing and controlling pests and diseases; building forestry infrastructure items such as intra-regional forestry roads, forest protection stations, nurseries, forest fire prevention and control works, etc.
In 2014, the Forestry Sector continues to strive to perform well the tasks of forest protection and development in the whole province, striving to increase forest coverage to 54.5%. To achieve this result, the Sector will focus on the following solutions: reviewing, planning, protecting and developing forests; implementing projects well; reviewing and rearranging forest management organizations, clearly distinguishing national forest areas and raw material forest areas; paying attention to developing human resources for forestry; reorganizing production according to product chains from forest planting, raw material purchasing to processing and product consumption, expanding markets, thereby increasing the value of forest products.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Forestry sector to clarify the existing causes of the past year to overcome them, such as forest fires, violations of forestry laws still occurring frequently, low payment for forest protection services; must seriously absorb the opinions of units and forest owners raised at the conference... In 2014, it is necessary to promote forest protection and speed up the review and adjustment of the planning of 3 types of forests for the remaining districts and towns. Prepare all conditions to well implement the forest development plan targets, especially the work of seed production and spring forest planting...
