'Crushing' 2 football betting lines, arresting 11 subjects

Morning of July 15,Hoang Mai Town Police said: The unit has just successfully discovered a gambling case that contributed to the destruction of 2 football betting lines, initially arresting 11 subjects and many related exhibits.

Accordingly, since the beginning of June 2021, through the work of grasping the situation, Hoang Mai Town Police discovered a number of subjects organizing gambling in the form of football betting, with large transaction amounts.

In particular, there are a number of subjects who have had previous convictions for gambling and organizing gambling in the area.

According to known sources, the subjects used the website "Viva88.net" to get "odds" on matches of international football tournaments, then deposited money intovirtual account, and at the same time attracted many people in Hoang Mai town and Quynh Luu district to participate in football betting activities.

The town police leaders have set up a special project to concentrate forces to fight and solve the case.

After a period of applying a combination of professional measures, the Task Force discovered two gambling lines in the form of football betting with daily transaction amounts of hundreds of millions of dong.

After understanding the operating rules of these two gambling lines, at noon on July 13, 2021, realizing that the opportunity had come, the Task Force divided into 6 working groups and quickly arrived at many locations to simultaneously organize the investigation.

Thereby, successfully arrested 11 subjects of 2 lines when they were calculating, receiving and paying for winning and losing bets after the Euro football final match ended in Quynh Lap commune.

Accordingly, the first line included 6 subjects led by Thai Van Tam (born 1983), residing in Phu Loi 1 block, Quynh Di ward, Hoang Mai town, along with subjects Tran Dinh Tuy (born 1986), Le Tran Thang Loi (born 1990), Le Duc Nam (born 1993), Le Ba Nin (born 1995) and Le Ba Gioi (born 1993), all residing in Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town.

At the same time, many working groups also quickly deployed forces to successfully arrest the second betting ring, including: 5 subjects led by Ho Ngoc Hop (born in 1994), residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, along with subjects Tran Dinh Anh (born in 1991), Nguyen Phuc Hai (born in 1998), Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town; Nguyen Ngoc Doi (born in 1991), residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district; Nguyen Van Giang (born in 1988), residing in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district.

Thereby, they seized more than 45 million VND in cash, 2 laptops, 10 cell phones and many papers and documents related to gambling.

At the Investigation Police Agency, the initial investigation clarified that the amount of money that the subjects transacted for gambling in the form of football betting from the beginning of June until the time of arrest was more than 1.4 billion VND. Particularly in the two semi-final matches between England and Denmark and Italy and Spain on July 7 and 8, 2021, the subjects transacted gambling with an amount of over 220 million VND.

Currently, Hoang Mai Town Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case, arrest the remaining subjects and consolidate the case file to strictly handle the subjects according to the provisions of the law./.
